haven't tried OCing yet atm... the clock speeds were exceeding 1.2GHz on core with Turbo Boost kicked in.

I am thinking about buying Corsair's HG10 N780 and mount my H80i to get max 2 slots gpu cooler or else i should go with Arctic Cooling's Accelero Xtreme IV dunno, after changing my H80i out with a True cooler i feel like my fans are more silent at the same temps with the aio.

personally i dont see it as necessary upgrade, now days aftermarket or custom cooler for 3rd party video card re makers ares enough, also newer architectures are oriented to less power consumption and TDP...
coolers like windoforce 3x are pretty excellent for getting video card chilled if sound is not a problem, for silent and cooling AIO's are the way to go.

well been looking for a ACX 1.0 or a Windforce cooler for my card but they r all missing parts when i see them and cost a lot more then one of these

Have yet to OC it, but I plan too once my folder rig is moved over to the RIVBE and 3930K. Right now getting a few more water cooling parts etc. Since I plan to smack over 4 GPUs into that system and have it fold 24/7 under Linux. It going to be a crazy build since I want to rock the 960, 980, and 2x 970s in it.

Just got lucky and found a dude who had the mobo water blocks for the RIVBE. I plan to water cool the crap out of it and turn everything up to the wall.

I would say your TIM is fine, leave it alone.

problem for some is that buying an aftermarket card may proved to be cumbersome due to certain vendor's weird design like ASUS Strix series & MSI Gaming series for example. Fitting them into certain SFF casing is also a challenge despite them running much cooler than reference. Solution is to get a GPU bracket with compatible AIO kit. sure it's more expensive but it doesn't impact headroom that much IMO.

Well I hit 71c last night gaming for 2 hours straight. Wife was super tired and fell asleep early lol. Right now idling at 26c. This is in gaming mode 1178/1329.

71c for 2 straight hours is still ok but there are some risks... try with keeping the side panel open to ensure a more efficient heat dissipation or it's the temp with the panels taken off?

the cards are quite happy at 80 C.. so there is not the slightest risk.. quite why you think there is i cant figure..

keeping things nice and cool aint a bad thing.. getting over obsessed with it is though..

EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 , ACX cooler,

look for yourself the prices on the example... diferences on price are pretty huge for hihg end models of the same cards, for example the ones with custom settings, PCB or high overclock or ultra efficient pwer phases like EVGA's K|NGP|N variant on 970 & 980ti cards, that card is pretty insane valued,

I had a GTX 970 and ran into that my 2560x1440@120hz setup ran out of memory with the 4gb (3,5+0,5gb) that was available on it, so swapped it with a Asus GTX Titan 6gb and than no more memory problems and same and a little better gpu performance from time to time

I would normally switch my paste pretty much as soon as I get the card. I have become partial to MX4, just so easy to work with. That said I haven't lifted the lid off my Fury yet. I don't want to "disturb" the great performance I'm already getting. If it goes off down the road it will be "MX4'd"

f*ck the police dude, i have re-pasted and claimed warranty due other issues on video cards and this is not a limitation, also TIM applied on GPU's is like applied by a cow... so i rather to test the card then re-paste when necessary .

I doubt a cow would do the job I've encountered with repasting a GPU. I've only ever repasted 2 GPUs but in both cases they used way too much TIM at the factory and it was a big mess to clean up. I don't know why they use so much.
