Ok, so I have a work laptop with a SAMSUNG_SSD_SM841N_mSATADXM4 and windows 7 - Dell Lat E7440

I have turned the battery/power options to what I want. I have turned off the ability for windows to shut down my wireless and bluetooth when not in use. But my computer will not listen to my settings. When it goes idle it goes to sleep, even though I have it set to NEVER sleep.

It goes to sleep and kicks me offline and people have a hard time finding me or think I am not at work. My tech support at work has tried a few times to fix the issue and nothing they do works, they are useless ...

What else should I look at to fix this issue?

Have you drilled into advanced options? Same thing was happening to mine, the advanced options did not match what I'd set on the main PM screen. I consider it a bug!

yep I forgot to mention ... Yes the advanced options were like yours and did not match. I updated them as well. In the advanced settings nothing should happen for at least 115 minutes. However my computer is asleep in about 15ish mins

Could there be something with the SSD where I need to update/flash the drive to fix something? I remember when I had the green WD drives I had to update their sleep values on the drive itself ...

Interesting ... I have a feeling it is something with the way Dell preconfigs it, but I just cant find out what

No, it is a work laptop and our IT department would take about a week to re-image it and get everything set back up that I need. Too busy at the moment to deal with their crap.

If all else fails, you could run a simple script that does some random activity every 3-5 minutes so your laptop never gets into sleep mode.

We use this at work to keep our availability monitors 'alive'.

I would not directly attribute all of this to your SSD, because generally SSD's that have proper firmware get a new energy plan option within the Windows energy plans available, if they want to have altered settings, and if anything an SSD would rather not use sleep mode than get into sleep as often as possible.

Doubtful. Those were WD Green HDDs. This is a SSD. I havent heard anything about being able to do this with a SSD. Typically SSD's are low powered enough that they dont need to be "green" in the sense of WD greens.

Does this work if I log off my computer? I work in cubes so if I leave my desk I log off, or if I head to lunch I log off. My boss has the same model laptop and he does not seem to have these issues either .. so that is what makes me wonder what the hell is wrong with mine.

I have tried different plans, all seem to default back to these mystery settings I cannot find to update.

well true ... was just hoping there would be something close :( my hail marry haha

EDIT:

I did just try to create my own profile and got this error:
Windows cant save some of your changes to this plans power settings. The system cannot find the file specified.

I cant find much on that error yet, but maybe this missing file is the reason it is happening.

EDIT 2:
Found something on that error ... testing out
powercfg /restoredefaultschemes
from the CMD prompt to see if that works ... will report back

EDIT 3:

This seems to have fixed the issue. I guess it got rid of the corrupt scheme and refreshed it.
