Using for encoding videos and music, media server, gaming, and backups with the twin 5tb for everything on my network. Suggestions will be taken into consideration and open for opinions. Note I didn't build this just based on corsair products, I just choose what I thought would be good.

So basically as the title says after a long debate on going to a 4k 50" Vizio M-Series TV, I decided to go with a 1440p 32" monitor instead, so that way I wouldn't have to SLI my graphics card right off the bat. I want opinions people but actual part advice. I have also increased my budget from $2700 to $3000 to include some things. If you have suggestions please add them but as always the final decision is mine, so please include you reason with them. Also it will be used as a backup server, home server, plex server, gaming, encoding/ripping/converting video/music files, and a massive storage; along with the regular stuff like web browsing and a music server, so please keep that in mind. Also I may or may not run a HDMI switch from the computer to my downstairs tv (which will be 4k).

With the price your paying for the parts, it would be better to get an i7 5820K over the 6700K for the extra 2 cores and threads (Which will be better for encoding).

Try swapping the motherboard and CPU to this instead:

i7 5820K
MSI Gaming 7 X99 Motherboard

Price difference is ~$40 less for this combo and comes with more power overall. I would personally choose that over the current CPU and motherboard if it was me.

Not to piss in the honey, but have you ever owned a large monitor? 27+

The reason i ask is fairly simple. From personal experience, and feedback from friends,family,etc..bigger monitors,or tv used on a regular basis CANbe a pita.

This would mostly stand out in gaming, but im certain some wouldnt mind...just some personal experience input. Either way, itll be a beast

Also 32 is not imo all that big, my experiences with my above mentioned issues were 32+...24is my preffered.

I use a 32" Emerson 720p tv as my main monitor right now as far as that goes in combination with my laptop of course. The reason is quite simple really, I just feel like unless I did a triple 1080 setup that I wouldn't be happy with that. At the very least the requires multiple gpus which I really would like to just stick to one. Hopefully this answers your question and if you have any more please feel free to ask. I value everyone's input.

Edit: I did think about doing triple 27" at one point, but like I said that would require multiple gpus.

Agreed. I currently use a 30" 2560*1600 monitor, and with it on my desk and the normal distance from my eyes to the monitor (about 2 1/2 feet) , the monitor is actually a little big. I have to move my head slightly to see the whole screen while gaming. Kinda hard to notice someone right when the come on your screen from the side and that's kinda a disadvantage in FPS games. Other than that though, I'm extremely happy with my monitor.

Just of curiousity would you say a 27" is a better fit? My table it sits on is 47" wide and about 27" wide or something like that. And to be honest a 32" tv is about right, tho I haven't tried gaming on it. My laptop isnt the best gaming laptop.

not so much a question as input.

in my personal experiences , as well as feedback from other , have found it Terrible annoying to use a Larger than 27 or so inch monitor for PC gaming, or regular use. Im certain editing, or web browsing wouldnt bother many folks, its just something i personally have noticed, from my own , and from friends...it sucks to turn your head to see something on a regular basis

i stress that this is a personal preference tho, so PLEASE do not be dissuaded by my mentioning this.
i only mention it because a buddy didnt take my advice, bought a friggin 64" Tv as a daily display, and was bitching inside a week about it. but 32 and under is Likely moot
also, several aquaintences did the same with 32+ displays, and had similar experiences, and i have a PC hooked to a 46" and i find it terrible. but your not in those size ranges, so your likely not going to see these results

For that money u can get more PC POWER!

U need fast ram for skylake,M2 SSD,BenQ BL3201PT..perhaps.
Also why the hell that cheap speakers into a build like this ... :(
Windows 10 Pro works better

I'm not sure I completely agree on that, if your not overclocking it doesn't really matter how fast the ram is, also skylake is impressive but I would rather have the cores, and windows 10 I am running on laptop, its alright I don't mind it but I miss Windows and it saves me money not having to but it.

Unless you're gaming across all 3, no.

I would probably only use one for gaming if I had the multiple monitor setup, I would probably have 1080p screens 3x24" or 3x23.5" and have one as a dedicated screen for plex or my media and the other as a spare.

I run my 3 1080's off one of my two 780s since SLI is weird like that, and my two 1600x1200 go off of my iGPU. All of my monitors can switch between inputs at any given moment and when I had my 5350 rig next to my main rig, I'd just flip between inputs when needed. 3 monitors gives more utility and more options than just one giant thing.

I use all 5 at almost any given moment so there goes the electric bill.

I would not do that, a single GTX 980ti is close to the performance of dual GTX 970's with more VRAM available on the GPU to boot which is going to be better. 3 1080p monitors would run decently on a GTX 980ti as I ran 3 on both my HD 6990's and my 3 way 290X setup. Its all going to depend on the game but you will probably be able to keep high settings with 3 monitor surround on games like Rise of the Tomb Raider, BF4, etc.

A single GPU that is modern can power 4 monitors, while surround uses 3 at once. A single 980TI is same pricing (depending on the card) will do best, multitasking/multimonitor gaming.

A single GPU that is modern can power 4 monitors, while surround uses 3 at once. A single 980TI is same pricing (depending on the card) will do best, multitasking/multimonitor gaming.

Okay cool. Everyone has been so helpful I will post the final build up here shortly.

Will you be using a headset? If not, get some respectable speakers, the ones selected will be quite bad.

Any suggestions on that end without spending $300 dollars on a set? I'm not much of a headphone user.

Just of curiousity would you say a 27" is a better fit? My table it sits on is 47" wide and about 27" wide or something like that. And to be honest a 32" tv is about right, tho I haven't tried gaming on it. My laptop isnt the best gaming laptop.

yea I would

Any suggestions on that end without spending $300 dollars on a set? I'm not much of a headphone user.

I won a set of Sennheiser HD518 here on TPU a little more than a year ago. I have been very happy with thier quality, both build and sound wise. And they are very reasonably priced these days.

I personally use Logitech Z623, which is a nice 200W 2.1 system - sounds great and won't break your bank. Any set from a reputable brand would sound good, Logitech and Creative come to mind. Had a sub 100$ 5.1 Logitech before, the current 2.1's are noticeably better - pack a punch with better frequency response in the high end, not overpowered bass.
Acme, Genius will sound very poorly, especially if you'll turn up the volume.

For as bad ass system like this, do you really need a wireless network adapter? And if you do require one, there are so many better options out there that is newer and better performing than the one you got listed.

That has yet to be debated, it kinda depends if my basement is finished or not. If it is I would like to hard wire it with Ethernet, if not then it is a requirement. Also I was looking into to doing a water cooling setup custom made but I'm not too sure of the cost and things like that if I can make it work with my budget.
