EVGA has always been a PITA with shipping but they make up for it in other areas. Still beats the likes of gigabyte and ASUS RMA departments in my experience.

At that price it has no need of making an impression, they just have to be decent, and that unit is. If I could buy them for that kind of money I could sell them for a profit.

Dozens of customer builds. Both the 430 and 500. And personal builds...a 500 in my server and a 430 in my kids new gaming PC. Not a single failure yet. I've been extremely happy with these budget units.

this is very much just an inexpensive entry level product but not a passing one. And do keep in mind that while our tests are based on ATX12V specifications, we do test at much higher ambient temperatures.

Since the EVGA 430W makes a lot of compromises in its low end build quality, unimpressive voltage regulation, and mediocre DC output quality this unit unfortunately has nothing by the numbers going for it that we can point to and say "yeah, but it does XXXXX" well enough to justify buying other than its "OK" Transient Load Test results, which still aren't good enough to make up for its failure in our regular load test.

Now, all of that said this unit was $19.99 at the time of purchase (and has gone on sale at that price a number of times since) and is currently coming in at $34.99 after $10 MIR. At that price, sure this unit is failing but it was almost passing and lots of much more expensive power supplies can't get as close to passing as this unit did. That has to count for something! This may actually be the best ~$30 power supply sold currently

personally I used to run the antec neo eco 400w in my basic builds but have used the corsair cx430 bronze recently.

A polished turd is still a turd. I would rather skimp on another part to find $5 more to buy a 500B (not including MIR) or $20 more with it.

Best PSU @ $30 and its a fail... .. go on.. go get you some....

The 430W is a cheap, basic, cheap, decent, cheap, good looking, and cheap unit that just gets the job done without putting hardware at risk. What more do you want from a unit like this?

... I am a gambler, surely, but, low end build quality and apparently inconsistent build quality makes me nervous, even at $30. Save $5 more and grab the frighteningly mediocre 500b. I mean that is 1% on a $500 build for peace of mind...

Jeremy hit the nail on the head, I'm not a big fan of it and have never purchased it but what I got from his review and the hardocp review was the unit does shut down properly and doesn't place your hardware at risk. Mediocre? Absolutely but it's not junk that will put on a spark show and blow out your hardware. Also, much as earhtdog has stated in livelier comments, the PSU should not be pushed. Someone wants to build a PC that will never break 225-250w while gaming and wants to stick this thing in there, go ahead (I wouldn't but it will work). Pushing past 300w I would strongly recommend looking at something better.

Low-end build quality is a no-name chinese PSU w/o PFC, single small heatsink and a fixed speed fan, which ultimately stops working or explodes 6-8 months into exploitation.

This is "mediocre", as stated by both sources, which is miles away from bad. It will definitely not make your computer burst in flames, or eat all of your electrical power and brainz.
Plus it is rated >100000 MTBF (~11 years), and has a 3 year warranty.

Usually if I buy PC hardware for $15 bucks, I expect a seller to laugh when I mention warranty(over 90 days).

Yeah, if you compare it to kindling wood, certainly. In other words, a girl rated a '2' sure looks better than a '1'. That doesn't mean the two is hot or worth it.
