I have two Seagate Barracuda in Raid 0 for quite some time, which was installed Windows 8.1 64bit, and recently some BSOD, raid on startup error, missing operating system and therefore not accessible, units appear to be live linux only once with not accessible folder, and then dead, now it is no longer detected, and in the initiation of error post the raid. I tried to fix errors with Seatool for dos, which found a number of errors and correct them, but nothing to do.

Do you know if there's a way to try to restore that disk drives in raid 0 and try to recover some data (especially some documents on the desktop and documents folder)?

You can try a raid deconstructor but you sound like you pretty well fucked yourself. RAID 0 has 0 redundancy.

Let me to explain what "RAID 0" stands for: Redundant Array of Independent Disks. And 0 stands for amount of data you you get back once (not if!) something goes wrong :p I know that's not very helpful but people shouldn't be using RAID 0 unless you make daily data backups of that array.

Sounds like one of the drives failed. Sadly with RAID0, once one drive fails, all the data is lost.

the bios recognizes them, they are also displayed in the post of the raid (although here are marked in red as error, both). I launched again Seatool for dos and made the long test, passed with no errors, I tried to start and now the windows started but after the logo gave me a BSOD, then rebooting launched diagnostics with final result fail to boot operating.

Any option to recovery some data or the entiere raid 0?

I connected a HD with win 8.1 to the PC with the raid with issue , I did boot this windows , and the system correctly detects the raid disc , and i was able to recover valuable data by copying them to another disk .
Now , before i try to rebuild the array with an application like raid reconstructor , to try to recover the disk as it was , what can I try to fix the sistem on the raid disc? Since the data are healthy , and the windows on the raid boot, but with a BSOD after the logo , how can I try to fix it?

...and this is why I use RAID 5 in consort with RAID 0. I wouldn't shed a tear if my RAID 0 failed because everything that's important has redundancy and is backed up as well. My headache starts and ends with re-installing Windows as even my Linux install isn't on my RAID 0 so it's not like I even have to drop everything I'm doing either. Plus, RAID 5 gives you RAID 0-like read performance, it's the write performance that isn't as good but, that's well worth what you get in return (redundancy.)

I hope this is a learning experience. :)

Something like this?

so, I have to boot in windows, insert w8.1 dvd, laonch installation, choose the "Keep Windows settings, personal files and apps" option, select the raid disc to install the sistem on it, and at the and the windows on the raid has fixed on boot and with all drivers, desktop programs installed in the past, also all setting?

Edit: I read thath this procedure dont save desktop application like programs and videogames, so it is not hopeful to me

update: after a couple of attempts to start the operating system on the raid, with several starting diagnostic boot tool recommended by the same at boot, this has been restored, and now the system starts properly, I only find it all a bit more slowly than usually:
what you advise me to do, test, verify, and maybe like trying to fix and repair?

Run Command Prompt as administrator(right click CP then run as administrator) and type: sfc /scannow Then press enter.

You could also try defragmenting or optimizing your hard drive.

Unless you're doing a lot of writing, I would argue that raid 5 gives you more for your hardware. The only benefit to 0+1 is write performance since parity doesn't need to be calculated but, 5 offers just as good read performance and offers better capacity in comparison. Raid 5 offers (N-1) of storage whereas 0+1 only gets you (N / 2) where N is the number of drives in the RAID. You also need at least 4 disks for 0+1 whereas 5 only needs 3. Aside from that, the only benefit to 0+1 is that rebuilding is faster but, in reality, it is no less strenuous on the drives when it happens. I personally think there are very few reasons to use RAID 5 or some nest raid level that includes RAID 5, such as RAID 5+0 when additional write performance is demanded (but requires a minimum of 6 drives.) For more than 4 drives, I would suggest RAID 6 as reads continue to scale nicely, just like in RAID 5.*

*: Performance is highly dependent on RAID drivers and hardware.

my question is: raid reconstructor is for a raid array damaged (or not working) thath do not let visualize the raid disk?
I ask thath because in my case, the raid disk work, windows on it boot, the data on it is healty, from another windows I also visualize it

Run Command Prompt as administrator(right click CP then run as administrator) and type: sfc /scannow Then press enter.

done...ok

so, this one ok, scandisc ok, hdtune test ok, seatool for dos (utility for seagate disk) ok

....situation:
- bios recognize disc and setted to raid
- after bios post, intel raid post say error at 2 disk
- windows boot normally
- the sistem work

1) Anymore to test or fix?

2) And: wath appened?

I guess try chkdsk. I don't know what else can be done. I'm not very familiar with RAID setups. It's been a long time since I used one.

There is no board information almost all boards support 10 and/or 0+1 less support 5 until recent. I personally run 50 on my server so I know the benefits you speak of.

ok...you advice me chkdsk, -f, -r, or -f -r?

Well, I made the assumption by looking at his specs. The ICH10R can do raid 5.
