2011-v3 x99 mtb going crazy finding DDL capable

Hello

i am checking to upgrade my computer.

i am going on the 2011-v3 with either a 6800k or a 6850k ..

my problem now is i want a motherboard that is capable of 5.1 / 7.1 trought spdif and i need the dolby digital live for that i guess

all the moterboard out ther advertise thousand of layer pcbs have crazy colors and other feature like leds and shiznit ...

all i really want is 5.1 / 7.1 trought spdif so i do not have to buy a sound card extra....

anybody can help me choose ?

hello , yes by design it is but have you ever heard of Dolby digital live? make it possible to get 5.1 / 7.1 audio compressed.

Quick googlefu brought this up. At the bottom of the specs it listed DDL/DTS Connect.

is this motherboard the only one with dts ? geez am i the only one with astro headphone that require dll for 5.1 ?

well i need a x99 motherboard not a h97 ....

i googled and i find a lot of thing going back here to hack the realtek drivers ....its seem's ddl feature is so 1999 ....

Not sure if this motherboard is suitable, but it is DTS 7.1 capable, has ~~SPDIF~~ Optical and is X99

DDL/SPDIF is EVIL
avoid
in order to get 7.1 over SPDIF both the receiver and the source need to support matrix encoding over SPDIF
I have yet to encounter a receiver that actually does this well
I would scrub all that and just get a HT Omega card

after a few years of fighting to get SPDIF working well and goibg back to analog, i finally went and got a second hand HDMI receiver.

It's got a lot less problems and issues, SPDIF was designed for pre-encoded sources like DVD movies and really doesn't work well for anything else.

^ that board caring1 linked to does support DTS connect over optical SPDIF, but that tech is limited to 5.1 audio.

You cannot get 7.1 over SPDIF no matter what you do.

well i just went with asus x99 .. and bought razer 7.1 software ... its working great .... lol i did not want to add a pcie card...
