16x vs. 8x

Probably been asked before; is there any performance hit when a 16x slot runs at 8x?

And I can't be sure about folding, but I thought some one said that the difference from pci-e in folding (or maybe it was mining) is even less than gaming.

But I've seen some of our folders with several gpus in a single system, and it worked fine.

I ran sli 970's in x8 times 2, and the perf increase was on averge 75-80% increase over single 970.

As n example, my unigine scores for single x16 970 were 1600'ish

But with sli x8 my scores were close to the 3000 mark plus or minus 30 points,

So, a 100% increase of 1600 would be 3200, and my scores of 3000 were not too bad.
But that was a benchmark,and not rel life gaming.

So, a single GPU in a x16 slot with another add-in card of any type in an adjacent x16 slot, resulting in both cards at x8, is no issue for any type of use of the GPU?
