Why is Gigabyte's RMA team the worst ever?

In 2014 I bought two Gigabyte 970's. Everything worked great initially however every time I ran a benchmark that taxed them, I'd get a black screen and have to restart my computer. At the time I was in between games and really only played LoL which obviously didn't tax the cards at all. After a while I started playing more demanding games and sure enough, whenever the cards were taxed I'd have a perfect view of 4 black screens.

After hours of trying to figure out what was going on, I narrowed it down to one of the Gigabyte 970's. All benchmarks would run perfect with the good card in but if you take the good one out and put the bad one in, it'd give you a black screen within 2 minutes of putting load on it.

It's pretty obvious to me that the Gigabyte 970 was defective, so I wrapped it up and sent it in for an RMA. I gave a detailed description that it only crapped out while under load.

Unfortunately after waiting a month, my RMA was updated with this:

So I've now received the card back, put it in, and the card is still exhibiting the exact same issues (aka it didn't magically just fix itself).

I can actually get the card to run stably if I use MSI Afterburner to set the power limit to 60%.

I've also put the card into a different computer and it exhibited the exact same symptoms.

(I actually have a video of what was happening but because of my low post count I can't post a link to it)

After requesting a second RMA for the card, it took them over two weeks to approve it. To their credit they did send me a prepaid shipping label.

This time, they actually decide to replace the card with a refurbished one (standard practice). Unfortunately a broken refurbished one.

After waiting another three weeks I received my second RMA card back in the mail pop it in immediately. I'm greeted with a nice black screen. No BIOS/POST no windows logo... nothing.

I then slap in my other working card that is the same make and model... no issues what so ever.

Since I got this last dead card, they have yet to respond to my e-mails and its been 10 days.

I'm at the end of my rope with Gigabyte. I started the RMA process 3 months ago and still have yet to receive a working graphics card from them. Their service is by far the slowest I have ever seen (I've sent RMAs into Corsair, Logitech and Asus) and they clearly don't care about their customers loyalty.

Hopefully everyone upgrading their cards saves themselves some hassle and buys a different brand.

Are you sure its not your PSU that at fault here? are you sure it can handle 2x970's?

It exhibited the symptoms regardless of if it was in SLI or I removed the working card and ran the single broken card by itself.

From the first post: "All benchmarks would run perfect with the good card in but if you take the good one out and put the bad one in, it'd give you a black screen within 2 minutes of putting load on it."

(and also - I've actually changed PSU's since this all started. Now using a EVGA B2)

How would a PSU cause symptoms on one card and not the other if the working card is removed and directly replaced with the broken one? Either way, it's been tested on multiple PSU's and before I sent it in for its first RMA I put it into my friends case and it did the same thing.

edit: also the fan spins on the card (which indicated power from the mobo I do believe) so if the PSU wasn't sending power to the graphics card, the graphics card would display a "please power down and connect the pcie power cable for this graphics card" screen.

I hope my Gigabyte 980ti doesn't give me any problems. After reading all the complaints though I will be avoiding them in the future.
