Lenovo Super slim Hard Drive comparable alternatives

I need to get a new hard drive for my Lenovo Yoga 2 11.
On their website It says I need a: Lenovo 16200661 Seagate Angsana 5.0Mm H(6g) 500G+8g

Are there alternatives to this that may be a bit cheaper than the $250 they are selling it for??

If it really is 5MM, that's quite small and probably speciality. 7mm drives are quite plentiful though... I don't suppose there is any chance of fitting one of those?

I think that the 5MM is the size I need. Best Buy didn't have anything that would fit in stock

No, 7mm is about as small as laptop HDDs go in standard packaging. It does appear to be an OEM only drive.

There is a used Dell OEM version of the same Seagate drive on ebay, with the usual ebay "buyer beware, used goods" status. It's quite cheap though.

EDIT: Wait, sorry, that is not the same drive. Might work though, no guarantees. Ebay search is a pain.

You could use an SSD. I recall someone selling SSDs without the top cap for this very same reason (he removed the cap and filed down the body of the drive in order to fit them). This would invalidate the SSD warranty though.

edit: I think there are some comercial SSDs that are 5mm in height as brandonwh64 picture shows

7mm is what you need. Lots of compatible models. I think samsung np350-series has similar drives

make a 2mm cardboard shim Same size as Drive
Test with original Drive ( pad out original drive with shim )to see if it fits in lenovo with clearance
If it Does then you can consider a 7mm spinner or SSD
if no clearance your stuck with oem Supplied or recommended Drive

there's also this, and the similar drive is listed in that maintenance manual provided by @brandonwh64 . The only problem is that it's SATA-express, and there is no mention of a corresponding cable being included...

WD Blue has 5mm drive model but isn't SSHD:

I'll get an msata drive and msata to sata adaptor. That should probably be thin enough. Their just bare boards.
