One thing I always consider is; who do I want to deal with if I have to RMA a part?
This scenario eliminates ASUS no matter how good the quality of their builds because the CS is awful.

I agree with you about the RMA thing, I
don't Know where you live but at least here in Germany those problems doesn't exist, i have seen that people who always has problems with Asus's hardwares are from America.

What what I've heard from friends in Germany is that the consumer protection laws are much better than in the US, particularly when it comes to warranties.
My RMA experience with ASUS was something I never wish to repeat again.

1 - Ram - G.Skill/Crucial (they give me free ram Crucial for base speeds, G.Skill for high speeds)

2 - Motherboard - No preference.

3 - CPU - Intel (because fast is fast)

4 - Graphic Card - MSI GAMING (I like my silence)

5- SSD - Samsung (2000+ MB/sec!!)

6 - Keyboard - Razer (I like LOUD mechanicals, lets my wife know when I'm busy

)

7 - Mouse - Logitech (they fit my hand better than others)

8 - Monitor - Dell (their warranty service is unbeatable for me, give the ma call, replacement on my doorstep by 12:00 noon next day)

9 - PSU - Thermaltake (I've had nearly all other brands, but only Thermaltake doesn't die for me. EVGA, Corsair, Enermax, Antec, FSP, Seasonic, all RMA)

1 - Ram - All my ram is kingston valueram cause I was cheapass (my builds are from before I started working)

2 - Motherboard - Asus or Gigabyte

3 - CPU - Intel

4 - Graphic Card - Asus (and always Nvidia). I went for cheaper MSI GTX970 and did regret it.

5- SSD - Samsung

6 - Keyboard - Logitech, but now I switched to mechanical and not much is available for my layout, so I bought corsair

7 - Mouse - Logitech

8 - Monitor - no preference

9 - PSU - seasonic (will use one in next build)

there is nothing wrong to get cheap value ram, did you overclock? if not or not planning to do on future still on value ram o single ram,
i had Patriot Viper DDR3 intel masters edition, 1866 DDR3, was in need of some money and i sold them and swithced to my old Kingston Value Ram, minimal difference on everything... also for normal tasks its almost nothing different...

Have one of the first batch with fan issues. When they go silent (0%) and have to start up again, one fan goes to 100% and one fan is stuck until cold boot or a manual push of the stuck one. I fixed it with a custom fan curve (always min 30%), I was too lazy to send it back to the shop as I bought it abroad.

No, I didn't overclock, 1333MHz CL9. Doesn't matter that much and I will get some fancy new RAM with my next build at the end of the year
