Re-checked the benches again.

So, "unbiased" f*cks compare 970 which is overclocked beyond 980 stock levels to a stock 480 in games, wait for it, in which 970 beats 390x.

On the other hand, great news for AMD, or am I missing something?

The 970 OC runs at 1304mhz which is less than the stock 980 I think. Hardware Unboxed said he will compare 480, 980 and 1070 in his review. I guess the 480 is on par with the 980 as gasolina already talked yesterday.

Stock 980 boost 1216mhz + GTX 970 has AMD 8350 cpu.

So at 1.3ghz, 970 equal stock 980 in 3dmark. Game? Bangforbuck channel has a comparison in game, but hes using a stock factory Oc 980 and 1500mhz 970. The 970 is slightly slower. However, my point is the rx480 is on par with the stock 980 at $200. What is your point Eroticus? a 2 years old card gtx 970 must be slower than 480? And the 970 must not be overclocked when comparing if the Rx480 cant be oc well?

My point is, if you are writing reviews you should compare stock vs stock performance, not OCed AIB cards for 370$ without VAT vs stock one ...

Same like techpowerup did or any other site, they didn't compare OCed Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti Waterforce Xtreme Gaming vs Stock 1080 or 1070.
and more games not nvidia GameWorks supported only.

I'm not going to buy RX 480, but everything should be equal, we should not expect from AMD more than nvidia, as reason to buy their product.

Stock vs OC, to not say it's close to 980.

Why don't they release the benchmark a few days before the launch day? NVIDIA benchmark was out a few days ahead of the launch and its not 2.1ghz and 68C like the event but people still buy.

Write that down: 390X performance for 40% of its power consumption and half of its price. And ofc a big win for the customers!

And for whoever needs more than that but doesn't have the money for custom 1070, wait a few weeks for custom and factory oced RX480s.
