Budget is 1000 dollars. Does not need any peripherals, only the tower.

Requirements:

1. Capable of VR. She is getting Vive
2. Simple and elegant
3. No overclocking
4. Plenty of storage.

+1 @BarbaricSoul and @Norton have recommended. The only difference is with a budget of $1k a 500GB SSD should fit and I'd wait 2-3 weeks for the aftermarket RX480 because the stock cooler sucks (loud and fails at cooling properly) and it only has 1x6 pin which is not enough for what it consumes. The stock RX480 is consuming nearly 90W out of the PCI-E which is no good.

find it kinda odd that the board that died were overclocked AMD boards.

Ok so here is what I came up with that is slightly above the budget ($1052)

CPU: i5 6500
MotherBoard: Gigabyte H170 Gaming
Ram: 16gb DDR4 2400 Gskill Ripjaws
Case: Corsair Spec-01
PSU: Rosewill 750watt Bronze (Yes overkill but its on sale for cheap)
SSD: OCZ Trion 480gb
HDD: Seagate 2tb 7200RPM
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1070

Try that and see what you think. If its to high it can go lower and even if you want to switch to a slightly lower GPU you can save a bit and get the RX 480 and then switch up some of the components to higher ones like a higher capacity SSD and such.
