erratic flashing/corrupted display signal xfx r9 280 black edition

These 280 issues blow my mind. I have had my 7950's clocked to 1150/1350 for years without issue... They are now flashed to the r9 280 bios (better ram timings) and so far they are fine I just can't believe the sheer number of people with issues.

my brother and i still ahve three 7970 GHz editions between us - all factory OC'd. Something changed with the rebrand to the 280x that just screwed them.

Well thats what he has done for me, after sending me a plate for my 290X just because i wanted to mod the cooler he actually sent me the whole 290X cooler. Then later a little time after the 390X came out sent me a 390X cooler for my 290X which i use now and at no cost to me.

I just wish they could do at least a 3 year warranty on their cards they sell, really missing that lifetime warranty

. But with that said i trust XFX to get my issue solved a lot more efficiently than most for example ASUS, Gigabyte and MSI to name a few.

welp... i just got home.... thought id turn my computer on..... and then i decided to film it in case it messed up cause im about to pack it up (the video card) to be shipped to xfx tomorrow.... and this happened... (https://vid.me/pT4W ) so im hoping the gods of shipping will give me a blessing even though im only able to ship it the most economical way and hope it gets there quick and hope i dont get an important assignment... also after i turned the video off that mouse is all choped up not actually displaying the mouse and then the computer shut off

just woke up.... learned not to read rma horror stories a few hours before shipping your card out..... finally gave up and just drove to my brothers and borrow a gt 640 a gt 240 a amd x1950 pro and a 7970 and couldnt get the issue to happen on any of them.... still nervous about the rma though... and sadly my brothers roommates need their cards back so im still left without one....

It probably means the Tech has looked at it, but is deciding whether to honour the warranty or not.

Ok guys they're sending back the same model.. Which is fine would've been nice if I could've got moved up but I can understand if they had one setting around so as long as it works fine then we're good and it was rather quick so thank you to everyone who answered and helped me out

well i got the card they decided to send me and it works fine as far as i can tell so far but i want to note that the fans had a decent amount of dust on them the heat-pipes were layered in it and the back of the gpu had a lot on it except the shape of a hand i presume where it was packaged and 3 or 4 drops of a dried up sticky liquid (like coke?) on the front.... now usually i wouldn't complain about this except the fact that i sent in a perfectly clean gpu with no dust anywhere... and not cause i cleaned it but because that's how it always is in my computer.. i didn't have to clean it to ship it in.... so i would appreciate if xfx would practice what they preach and "Please clean your Graphics Card with Qtips, compressed air and Isopropyl alcohol when necessary. Filthy fans and cards will be held for pre-test cleaning, delaying the process 4-5 days. Thank you" before sending them back to costumers.... besides that it went fast and there were quick responses so no problems there.... just irritated me that i had to spend a while cleaning the thing before putting it in my computer so i didnt fill my computer with dust

already cleaned it not trying to make a big deal just saying itd be nice if they would clean theres as well since they ask you to clean yours when sending it in
i think the sticky spots are still there though ill se if i can take a pic with it in my case in a minute

This is mostly a bug with dual monitor where your memory clock idles higher than usual, take off second monitor and test couple days.

More problems.... Pictures Will be uploaded shortly.... And that thing about the bug is possible but why now? I used the card from them and now it happened and before hand on windows 8.1 it worked fine mostly except some random graphic glitches in fallout 4 and battlefront. also is it normal to get multiple monitors to have to swap plugs in the back around and select different monitor schemes till it shows up? Cause I don't think it is

and i've also had another recurrence of the original problem where the monitors gone completely crazy

i really need this taken care of... it is becoming a huge nuisance having to deal with this card now... it was fantastic at first but now its just... ughhh
and if it is a bug then it needs to be taken care of... i bought it new and i bought from xfx cause i knew there stuff lasts but this is getting bad... im not trying to sound complainy but this is getting really really annoying

yeah that really looks like a dying 280x. you can only replace it, there was no fix. After 5 RMA's of getting faulty 280x cards back i finally got a 290 and never looked back even ones - the 280x are just bad cards (which is weird because the 7970 ghz edition they're almost identical to, was problem free)
