hey guys,

Recently, i bought ASUS ROG Maximus VI Hero Motherboard in a used but good condition from Friend. i installed everything, and Pc working flawless the first day. while the second day, I installed few utilities, after then it started giving me a very very strange issue. which i never experienced before. While normal usage like application and net surfing, PC suddenly close all application itself and proceed to proper shutdown process. Which i have no clue what it is doing and what causing it to do.

As far as my CPU is concern, it doesn't cross 70c in gaming, while at idle it stays between 42c - 47c.

Me neither. That's a software initiated shutdown. Check event log.

I am using Windows 7 x64, and it is more than 8 months old since then i used 2-3 boards on it. never had any sort of issue. So Do you guys think it could be Operating System issue. Cuz My Pc is shutting down every 10-15 minutes of usage, and in a procedural Way, like application i am using are first closed and then it takes me to shutdown process.

there is nothing like every thing goes black or crashed.

As suggested before, you need to check your event logs to see if you can verify if something is initiating a shutdown procedure on you. If you don't know how to do that, here's a quick link on how to access Event Logs from Microsoft:

Open Event Viewer by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking EventViewer.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Click an event log in the left pane.

I know as a dirty joke one time, I used AutoHotKey to initiate a shut down when the "L" key was pressed on a coworker that constantly screwed with my mouse and keyboard. Does anyone else have access to that workstation?

We need to know more information than how it is shutting down in order to proceed diagnostically and we need your help to do that.

You could open an elevated command prompt (Start type CMD, right click CMD.exe and run as admin)

First type: CHKDSK

If errors type: CHKDSK /R

Reboot....

Start again, then type: SFC /SCANNOW

If errors are repaired good, if not, then we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there.

Either way, I agree you need to check event log and see what's going on, find out if something is initiating the shut down. You also say after 10-15 minutes of use, what about while idle? Or does this happen only when gaming?

Also re-reviewing your OP, you say you installed a "few utilites", any chance you can use System Restore to go back before you installed those utilities or simply uninstall them to see if the issue is resolved? Could you divulge what those utilities were?

Utilities are removed, still no difference.

here is event log

here is CMD screenshot, that you demanded

for CHKDSK, It said "the Type of File system is NTFS", Then i proceed to sfc /scannow part and you can see the result in screenshot for that.

the time i mentioned above is now on desktop. Means, i was only doing a normal usage like net surfing. then suddenly it takes a reverse gear to off. either i am idle or load it behaving similar. by the time i am writing i don't know to what extend it will stand on for me. :(

type the following in a (admin) command prompt to cleanup the errors in your windows sfc found:

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /ScanHealth

Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

reboot, sfc /scannow again. Should come up clean. It may help too.

you never seen a keyboard with power management keys?

its nothing new, and the power button does the same as clicking on the start menu shutdown button (even if your keyboard doesnt have the physical key it might still be able to produce it)

@Kursah @R-T-B

Thanks for your suggestions and following my problem.

My Problem has been resolved successfully. What i have done is several things. so I cannot pinpoint the actual fix. There are ACPI device which was unknown in Device manager which i figured and installed. then in BIOS CPU option set by default to "Sync all Core" which may turn clocks to overclock. 2 days back when turned on my pc it takes cpu limit to 46. but i didn't do that. so I change it to "AUTO". i don't know if that was the problem or what. but i done that too.

Thirdly, i also replugged Board's Battery, so in the end i get problem resolved.

Thanks a lot for everythings

@truth teller

oh yes, this thing i know. no not that one i have.

thanks for all of you to followed up my post and put forward some suggestion. I appreciate that.
