Gigabyte 1080 Xtreme - one fan question.

Hello all. So i bought Gigabyte 1080 Xtreme. Overall actually i am happy with performance and 3dmark scores. But after plugging card during Unigine Heaven for 4 minutes one of the fan was not working. After 4 minutes i realize that cable sata from ssd was blocking the fan. Anyway temp was fine. Nothing happened?Now all 3 fans are working like it should.

Just cable block one fan for 4 minutes during heavy load , beside that temp was fine.

@litwicki24 if the fans have resumed normal function, then Yes they are fine, dont overthink it...its not a big issue. just try and clear up your cables to avoid further conflicts

SO nothing happened? That was for 4 minutes, sata cable block one of the three fans during heavy load. When i remove sata cable, fan working like it should.

Last question. When i realize when one fan is not working because of blocking cable, max temp was 70C. When i remove cable i test card again with all 3 fans working and max temps was 63C. So nothing happened with card with that max 70C higher temp?

Nope. These cards can handle up to around 90C before trouble starts.

My friend was plugging graphic card to my pc. Then we ran unigine heaven and realize that 1 fan was not working. Then he check fans and tell me that sata cable was blocking and stopping fan. But i dont saw that. I think i can believe to my friend.


Somebody said to me this:
"How exactly did you manage to get a sata cable routed in such a way that it stopped a fan? Even if it was up against the card I don't see how it could possibly stop a fan....."


Is this possible that sata cable can stop a fan? I need your opinion.

yes a badly misplaced SATA cable could jam a fan

THATS WHY YOU CABLE MANAGE so cables do not interfere with Fans

Ah ok i understand now. Ok but why somebody said to me this:

Push your finger into spinning fan
It will jam
It may Break fan or just stop it
Sata cable acts the Same as your finger in this situation

What the? Asking if something can impede the function of a fan? Yes. a SATA or any other kind of cable if impeding the fan will keep it from working. No, it won't destroy the card or damage it in any way especially since temps never went above 70 degrees. Enough of these threads about your card.
