I am looking at those two models and I need help deciding.

I am looking for a quite build, in a Fractal R5 case. So the best noise/temp ration is esential. Also, important is IF these cards (manufactures) are reliable over time.

There is also the MSI gaming X. It looks as my secure bet. But I would like to know if the mentioned 2 cards are better considering noise/temp and reliability.

If this is the Gainward,
Then get it, I miss a ready supply of Gainward cards, but it's quiet and build quality is outstanding!
BTW you can't go wrong with the Amp either............so kinda depends on pricing for you.

My preference for video cards :
1.MSI
2.Asus
3.EVGA
4.Zotac

Why do some buyers get extremely factory overclocked cards ?! They draw more power .

I know a rule from Intel CPUs . 10% more speed (voltage) requires 21% more power ! I.e. if I is the index of the increase of the voltage , power draw index is I*! . Here 1.1*1.1 = 1.21

Get a good low consuming GTX 1070 . This is the what is meant to be . Of course a little factory overclock .

not only for intel, this is just a rule from electronics in chips.. the formula for total power has a V² in it. I'm sure I typed it out somewhere on this forum.

Will edit it in this post when I find it. (P = power V = voltage and f = frequency, we can see that the total power more or less linearly scales with frequency and quadratic with voltage)

Edit:

The correct formula for a CPU is
P = 0.5*a*f*C*V_cc^2 + I_l*V_t + a*f*I_sc*V_t

0.5*a*f*C*V_cc^2 -> active power, with 'a' amount of capacitors/gates active and C the capacity of them

I_l*V_t -> leakage power

a*f*I_sc*V_t -> short circuit power

Msi gaming x is about 2$ more than gainward gs while zotac extreme is about 10$ more than msi gaming x. So price is no issue

Msi seems safer choice as cooler design is similar to last gen. It worked well, probably is now.

Gainward is atractive as not being so big as zotac, has gigger heatsink so it seems better coled. And it is very similar with palit gamerock so well reviewed???

Zotac appeals for the passive cooling that seem to happen even on heavy load...??? But it is massive

Question is? Witch has better noise/temp ratio?

Yes. I know all that. This is why i said it is the safer choice.

But many say zotac is better cooled and near silent. Same with gainward. This is why i camere. I know msi. But if thete are better options i want to know.

I've had 4-5 Gainward's before and just really like the build quality, and the performance was superb.
Albeit they were used[not readily available in U.S.] they were older Gen cards infact Still have the 7800+GS GLH awesome card for the time.
They have all overclocked like crazy, and had really good stock coolers. It just seemed that I got an excellent bang for the buck
Even with it being used, I had to call their tech for something, and they had no issue taking care of it.
On the other hand I would like to get some Zotac card some time.[really like some of the amp cards, especially when on sale]
Lastly, after some of the issues some have had with MSI RMA I'm kinda leery of them tbh..............
Edit: BTW the overclocking was just an unexpected extra with the card's, even the GLH went way above factory at the time, so that had no bearing on my choice, just they were really good built card's then but their new cost premium reflected that also.

The thing is, MSI makes a really killer cooling solution these days. TwinFrozR was good two years ago, but today it's amazing. The noise profile is not only low dB, but it has a very pleasant 'sound' to it, you literally just hear the airflow rushing through and that is all, even at near-max RPM. There's nearly no humming or anything.
