swapped that mobo for an nf4 jobby and cranked that sempy to 2.5ghz and it would eat early p4 for breakfast in games

was a couple of jokers on here who liked to abuse sockets with vas that got me into clocking xD

for sure! but man could you tweak ram for days on those old nv chipsets. intel mobo would beat them in pure cpu clocking but for a gamer you wanted dem tight latencys

back then chipsets had better cooling than the vrm, how the times have changed

it used to run 2.4 daily and bench at 2.5ghz :lol:

I can see W1z's number is 1, which makes sense, but for some reason (maybe I'm getting mixed up with heat23 on heatware) I was thinking W1z was the second person registered to the forums. However, if that person was inactive, I can see W1z doing a cleanup before porting everything over to the new site and reordering the numbers.

Damn yeah, think I still had an Athlon XP (Thoroughbred) 2400+ when I joined. If I remember correctly I think I came to TPU after reading about flashing the Radeon 9800. Had a 9600XT at the time.

I remember when I built my first PC in 2003 I didn't quite get the relationship between GPUs and CPUs. I figured that a powerful CPU could make up for a weak GPU and therefore bought an FX5200 for it. Worked surprisingly well for many games so didn't realise what I was missing for some time, lol.
