Only thing I haven't been able to find concrete is if there will be save points. I saw something about there being "checkpoints" where you could resume from, but would like something more like a game freeze at least so you could shut it off and still go back and play.

My guess is that this basically is a 2DS without screen, cameras, etc. and will run the VC version of the games, meaning that pretty much every VC feature would be supported.

I would love (more) this thing if it had, I don't know, 512MB of internal storage and could connect to the VC shop.

EDIT: anecdote about youth: A couole of years ago Inwas with some friends, and there was a relative there, 12 year old. They had a Wii with an old Sonic game on it (iirc), I obviously wanted to show him the ropes. He got the controller and asked me what he was supposed to do. He didnt even know in which direction he was supposed to go. I wept that night. ;_;

Only proprietary things are games coded for this hardware imo. Easier to adapt software to different hardware than creating special environment to emulate old games.

We have a hacked Wii now. Not much point in buying NES classic edition anymore, since we now have access to all that plus much more.

Its not really updated hardware from what a early 2000's laptop could do with emulators. I get everyone will love that retro NES box with a controller but they are only out to make money on the console itself and not the games.

It should let you download and play games. Maybe even allow opensource games on the emulated NES platform. Thats the correct way to do it.

Emulating the PS2 gets in some tricky territory. One you have to own the game (which in this case you do), and second you must own a PS2 console which you pulled the BIOS file from to input into the emulator (reason the official site does not give out that part). In which case, you must own the game and own a PS2 console.

Of course the majority people I have meet that emulate either no longer own the games or never own them in the first place.

I see nothing wrong with this mini NES or re releasing old games on newer consoles. Gives some of us younger generations a chance to play these games which are pieces of gaming history.
