it may be related to graphics drivers.

Had this with my old laptop before, it would just freeze up on the desktop,
did not use it for awhile and later started up again and I had just enough time to install a new graphics driver which solved the problem.

Alright but I don't have a clue what I should be looking for since my PC is slow right now. Like what tab or menus should I be looking at and what should I keep my eye out for?

Ctrl-Alt-Del - Task Manager - performance tab, then click the resource manager down at the bottom.

Like this:

Then in the resource manager, look at the Disk usage and sort by "total (B/sec)"

Here:

Then post a screenshot.

As other's have said, if that shows nothing suspicous, then a memtest in in order.

Google how to create a bootable USB with MemTest on it.

Logitec's gaming software can do some really weird shit. Like maxing out cpu/ram utilization etc. Google chrome too. Then there's crapware that does wonders. Use ccleaner every week or so. And run a full scan with Malwarebytes anti-malware etc. I use Comodo Internet security (free) which has a "Gaming Mode". Try a scan with that too. And lastly, try running all your nice HW at default. That is, not overclocked.

  • Could be memory leak due to a bug in the game- update Drivers ,newer patches for games.
  • I would check the hdd with Harddrive Sentinel Trail version- Easy to check smart data/bad sectors.
  • Check Gpu profile set to maximum performance for each game (in nvidia control panel).
  • Max cpu and Gpu temps ?- Leave Core temp and Msi Afterburner running ( check gpu fan not stuck on eg. 40%)
Dought Malware scan / Defrag would do anything if only during gaming

This is a common problem on various cards that can be fixed by using various tweaks to SoM games' settings. Dont discount what anyone suggested here, nothing wrong with trying to eliminate your rig's worthiness to run SoM. One of them right off the bat is making sure its using the nvidia graphics setting, google more tweaks. There are a lot of Steam users with similar issues with SoM.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver multiple times and that didn't change anything

I can't install Comodo because of an error message saying "This program is blocked by a group policy. For more information please contact your system administrator." and "This installation is forbidden by system policy. But I am the admin

You might have a virus. This YouTube video shows how to boot into safe mode (F8) and remove the registry entries that might be causing it.

Kaspersky USB antivirus is also pretty nifty. Easy to make a USB key and I always use it as a first step if I suspect a virus.

It's free and easy to create the boot media.

That video helped and I was able to get Comodo so I did a smart scan and it shows that I have a severe amount of junk files (8521 files), medium junk registries (417 issues) and low memory check (20% in use). I was Playing Max Payne 3 for about an hour to see what would happen and it eventually froze so I think this might be the problem but it won't allow me to clean this without the help of an expert (comodo geek buddy)

If you going to do a virus scan i would suggest getting a Trial version of a good effective antivirus - Eset or Kaspersky is very good
Sometimes when you download programs you need to unblock it first (only noticed this on 8.1 ) right click one .exe properties unblock

Have you tried installing with administrator account ? - right click run as administrator?
Combofix(get only from (beepingcomputer.com) is a very affective app to remove anything dodgy on pc if virus related

Combofix has fixed virus related issues many many times ,sometimes been battling for hours then run combofix sorted out -seems to reset allot of windows files back to default aswell+malware/virus scan

OK, listen very carefully.
It could be virus related, or may be you are logged into a domain?
When you log in, do you use local credentials or a domain also? Try login in the LOCAL PC and NOT a domain - AS ADMINISTRATOR. Because you need administrative rights to modify group policy rights and a network admin could have restricted some things that you won't be able to modify.

If you do have full rights, try editing the group policy. Google that for how-to.

If you then think it IS virus-related, then you will have to use a clean USB flash drive to do the cleaning.

Quick question if I were to refresh PC would this erase the viruses as well?

Recovery Environment could be infected, etc. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. Refresh is more for typical reversion of typically installed programs ... not root kits

I don't understand does that mean I shouldn't refresh PC because it seems like a good method.

Do a virus scan with a quality AV and that s it !
paid or trial : Kaspersky Bitdefender
free : Zone Alarm Free AV , Avast , Panda
Alright I'll give it a try then play a game for a bit and see how it goes then I'll report back with what happens
