A new tech firm is set to revolutionize the graphics card industry by purchasing GPUs directly from consumers through a fast, easy-to-use, and zero-risk process. SellGPU.com, a company of gamers, programmers, and hardware enthusiasts, was established to help individuals with the need for high-end PC components dispose of their old GPUs. Founder and CEO Said Hafez created the company in late 2014 after finding difficulty in getting rid of an old GPU batch.

"SellGPU is the first business of its kind to establish the re-commerce business model in the GPU industry," Hafez said. "We are giving individuals who need high-end graphics the power to safely and quickly sell their GPUs, making the upgrading process easier and more affordable." SellGPU offers its customers instant quotes. After the customer accepts the offer, he or she will have the option to receive a free anti-static foam box and prepaid shipping label with which to send the GPU. The customer then simply places the GPU in the box, tapes the box, affixes the shipping label to it, and drops it off at any local post office. Once the GPU reaches SellGPU, it gets inspected and tested. If it passes the testing process, the customer gets paid by PayPal or check within three business days. If the GPU fails the tests, SellGPU returns it free of charge.

Gamers upgrading to the GTX 1070, GTX 1080, or the Radeon RX 480 have been receiving up to $92 for a GTX 960, up to $158 for a GTX 970, and up to $212 for a GTX 980.

"SellGPU is attempting to do to the GPU industry what Gazelle, Inc. did to the smart phone market," Hafez said. "A market disruption from SellGPU could mean a lot of savings to gamers, and computer enthusiasts will now be able to further their ambitions in building the most up-to-date rigs."

For more information or to trade in a used GPU, please visit www.SellGPU.com

You get at least double by selling them on the bay...

Btw, is this available for North America only, or also for Europe/Asia?

Yeah not really the first GPUshack comes to mind founded by the guy behind Imageshack.

http://gpushack.com/pages/trade-in-for-partial-refund

Lets see now... gpu shack website currently states the website was founded in december 2014, sellgpu states company was founded in june 4, 2014.
Both ways neither invented an innovation, they just borrowed a wide concept from other industries.

I am guessing this is Alexander Levin from Gpu Shack. Obvious..

I love the idea, and the price is almost competitive, but there are two problems..

The used GPU market on ebay is amazing, and I could list my 970 on there for $190 and sell instantly by undercutting every other listing, or if you are in a reasonably sized city, I can sell it on craigslist for $200 cash and not deal with shipping or fees. The sell GPU at the time of this post will give you at absolute most $148, and im sure that price will go down faster than market value.

From what I've seen online and in person, most people looking to upgrade to newer GPU's are coming from nvidia 500-600 series or AMD 6000-7000 series. Those also still sell well on ebay but this site wont touch them. I would at least like to see one more generation down on their site.

How exactly will this site revolutionize anything? With the title as is, I thought we were getting another player in the GPU game, but it’s just a shitty reseller.

Selling your previous gen card is really not hard. Especially not if you’re selling them as cheaply as they are offering to buy them for. Heck, I can easily add 20% to what they are offering, and still sell the card on eBay almost immediately.

I agree that used GPus cost more... but question is who are the end buyer (user) for these used GPUs and why? I mean gtx 980 goes for >250$, but NEW GTX 1060 or RX 480 goes for same price and offers same performance ??? (and less heat and power *if AMD = false*). same goes for 200% 970 - it is ridiculously high price for used (or maybe abused) in this age.

Like Computer Exchange they're gonna give you crap prices since they have to resell them for a profit and cover their operating costs.

On the up side, selling to them is safer with less chance of getting ripped off.

NO.

I think you'd be lucky to get that now for your used card, with new 980Ti prices dipping as low as $409-$429.

I get 148 USD for a Zotac GTX 970 Omega Core that's less than a year old, still under warranty. To quote the wise people above me: "Yeah... no". I could get 200 easily selling it through local ad boards.

Point is GPU shack has been actually operating while this new company is just now seemingly getting started. One might have formed sooner than the other but relatively speaking the other made it to market so to speak sooner.

As for everyone else booing about prices.

Launch of the RX480 has R9 290/ 290x / 390 cards going for $210 or less used. I have seen 290s for $150. 980Tis ive seen dip as low as 300 as well.

Generally speaking, I just don't like feeling like I've been ripped off so I'd be less interested in their lowball offer. However, it's nice to see that there is a streamlined way to offload a card when upgrading.

Personally I have more then one PC so an older card (last gen or last few gen) still has value and use to me. So again I'm not selling my GTX 670, GTX 760 (2x) or GTX 960 when I buy a GTX 1070 or GTX 1060.

IMO this seems like it's more for people who don't want the hassle of dealing with e-Bay but can't really fully fund the cost of the next card that they are lusting after.

Edit:

Either that or it's for people who just don't fully understand the value of the hardware that they have to sell. Sort of how like many cellphone users don't fully understand the value of thier phone because the price of it was subsidized by a contract.

Lol, what? You do not sell used aftermarket cards half off. I'd take any GTX 980 Ti $300 or under in an instant.

I sold my GTX 980 4GB on Ebay for 320.00 + 12.00 shipping 30 days ago. It sold in less than 20 minutes and I had the lowest priced card on the list! Now they are down to 300.00 - 310.00 shipped. Still had 2 years left on EVGA's warranty. Ti's are going for about 400.00 atm.

Only RMA exchanged sometimes you get a lucky upgrade.
