Drive Running at 100% after installing new Video Card

I went and purchased a n MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X 8GB for my computer to add to it. I thought adding this to my build would make it significantly better than having the 2GB GTX 760 that I had previously.

However after making the proper installation and updating all of my drivers, boot time and the ability to launch applications becomes nearly impossible. I cannot open anything or run any virus scanning programs properly as I have taken 10 hours and to do a full system scan I am still at 0%. I am not entirely sure what can and is causing this issue but if you know any information that could be of use please, send it my way. I had even tried sending my PC off to a "Professional" that only fixed my installation of my drivers for 170$..... Wish I could get that money back.... Any help is appreciated.

probably cause : hdd queue is full

I would :
1.Unistall Geforce Experience
2. Close Steam , not loading at Windows startup
3.Temporarily stop Avast

Then do a clean install of the Geforce video driver but without Geforce Experience

A application is using your harddrive causing a high Hdd load slowing down the Pc .

Possible the "windows module installer" - linking to windows update service

i would suggest using 'Process explore" to check for sure which application is utilizing your hdd @100% load
You have allot of apps running start off by closing them and see if hdd usage drops eg . Chrome, hddtune, razor, steam, gaza screen uploader

Ps . you can upload pictures direct to your comments - on post reply

Will the removal or GeForce Experience remove the drivers along with it? And steam generally would boot on startup but due to the highload of the disk it could take up to 30 minutes just to verify the installation.

I'm familiar with XenForo but unfortunately I am time restrained and just needed to get the images on the post. I will try and do everythging suggested but some of the processes appear to be Windows 32 processes that shouldn't be tampered with imo

Geforce Experience is a separate software from the drivers . I ve got a laptop so i always get rid of GE - just dont install it . My Steam is not loading at Windows startup , just changed the settings

Might enter Safe mode to install the driver

Alright. I noticed when I went through my programs that it installed a ton of programs... but I am not entirely sure if that would cause the problem anyhow. But here's the image of all the ones installed.

What about first link i sent about "windows module installer worker"?
Closing apps check when "hdd disk drops" drops?

you need to arrange the working set so can see easily by highest on top ,But wow you have allot of unnecessarily software running 124 processes ...
Clean up your startup - msconfig / cc cleaner / highjackthis / startup monitor
Still looking like windows module installer worker causing the issue.

Something is definitely causing high hdd usage. So
  • Would do a virus scan - remove Avast it is terrible in my experience use - Kaspersky ,bitdefender , Eset - can get trial version for all or free Eset antivirus beta for 6 months :)
  • Malware scan - Malwarebytes run full scan , awdcleaner removes junk effective
  • Clean startup too much junk running
  • Combofix - removes viruses, reset windows file ,Does magic :) ( dont interupt the process) ONLY DOWNLOAD FROM(lots of fakes) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/ gets updated everyday
Check hdd usage after

I'll have a go at the first link and see what I can do. I will also remove avast though I've used it for almost 4 years myself. I have never cleaned up my startup using any programs so you may need to guide me a bit through that. Here is the image of my working set arranged highest to shortest

Going to sound really idiotic but what specifically should I get rid of? I'd rather not ruin things and not have a computer to come back to.

Anything malwarebytes or adwcleaner finds must be removed -it only searches for suspect malware related things
Then combofix after let if finish.

Then post the process explore again and lets see what is left
PS why so many chrome tabs or items open?

Actually I have no idea why I have so many to be honest..... I shouldn't have more than one I don't think?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Resource Monitor can get the job done as well
Yeah, not sure why you installed something else.......CTL+ALT+DEL, Task Manager, And either sort the process tab, or go to performance to see which drive is doing it.

You should also upload using the forum... not 3rd party garbage that will eventually break the links.. ;)

Another good reason not to install the kitchen sink is right here people... regardless if this was the problem or not. For NVIDIA drivers, I install what I NEED. That means drivers and Physx. That's it. :)
