I believe with a hdd if bad sectors occur the drive should be format and O/S reinstalled -then if same issue replaced
Drives with bad sectors may work alright for a storage drive but could cause issue for the O/S

Harddrive Sentinel would give the best user friendly info about the state of the Hdd without running a full scan and damaging the drive further if failing
Can even benchmark/test for bad sectors /bootable aswell .

It says:

There is 1 weak sector found on the disk surface. It may be remapped any time in the later use of the disk.
At this point, warranty replacement of the disk is not yet possible, only if the health drops further.
It is recommended to examine the log of the disk regularly. All new problems found will be logged there.

EDIT: Short self test also failed because of read element.

Taking a look at the screenshots, your BIOS is old... there's probably an update that would help with future compatibility. If you don't feel like messing with it that's fine though as it can be risky if the system isn't stable and most likely has nothing to do with the "power" issue. :p

EDIT: Is the drive in question a boot drive? HDD regenerator i mentioned will fix 1 sector for free, but if it is you'd need to put it on a usb or something. Honestly though this is a power related issue and the disk would cause crc errors and hangs etc, and not a complete restart of the system that triggers a kernel 41 (63). Unless of course theres a short in the sata cable or psu cable itself?.

I'm on ebay now. What should I be looking for when in the sub 25-30$ PSUs? Don't have a particular budget just want one as cheap as possible to handle slightly better GPU maybe and up to a Q9650.

The shipping is almost the price hes asking for the PSU. What about something pulled out of a Dell Workstation or something cheap but will hold me over a while?
EVGA 500B is good budget PSU . I have no experience with eBay . So I could only point out a product , no price , place and etc.

Might be the first time I've seen "defrag" as a suggested solution for spontaneous reboot issue, lol. PSU, motherboard caps, failing memory, buggy drivers, bad sata cable, power glitch, etc ... but not defrag, hah.

Even the 430 non bronze model is good. (johnnyguru did a review on the 500) that im using and its been great. This is an area that isn't worth cheaping out on but also isn't worth getting something too overkill. The newegg listing is 36 but has a 10 dollar rebate.

Problem is used cheaper psu's are usually oem ones that don't have 6 or 8 pin power cables and using the lp4 to pci-e isn't a great idea. Also run the risk of being in the same situation your in, sometime in the near future because of something already being headed towards faultyville. Im second guessing this 5750 i got off the bay now after rigorous benching and testing i think it has faulty memory, and ofc i can't ship it back to the seller now so im out 27$. :banghead:

I'd just save up and get something worthwhile if this is for sure the issue. In the meantime it could be as others have said drivers?, are the capacitors on the motherboard bulging at the top?. Did you install anything new recently? Check stability with Memtest x86? Prime95?

I've checked stability and temps with everything. Run memtest and all the diagnostics I have. It has been doing this since early 2015 according to event viewer. I imagine I will have to save for a decent budget PSU.

Yea, amazon hides their shipping usually though to push their prime service so the newegg links might be better especially if the 10 dollar mail in rebate goes through. Wouldn't hurt to try and save money in the process :D. My evga 500 watt has been good to me so far, probably gonna grab the 430 eventually just to rule out the psu being the problem with this dell im working with atm.

Search for something 80+ certified and post in here what you find. Peeps will give you their opinion on whether it is a worthwhile PSU.

I have some more information. I have checked event viewer and read over multiple things.

Right after the Kernel 41 error, it says these 2 things:

Performance power management features on processor 0 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware.

Performance power management features on processor 1 in group 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware.

A few hours afterwards while using the PC, these came up today:

The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

It came up twice only 4 seconds in between. I have also scrolled through and found the same error for my CD rom which is and old IDE drive.

I run DVDs at night and through the night while I sleep. I watch them while I fall asleep. And I notice that these errors will occur for the CD- Rom 10-20 times in a row.

Hopefully this may add insight. Maybe it isn't the PSU i am not sure. Thanks in advance for any help.
