Mine boosts between 2050-2100. GPU-Z gives the perfcap Reason as VRel.
It barely ever goes above 70 C. I just wish there was a way to bump up the core voltage slightly.

I'm not sure why the PhysX box isn't checked. Is it driver dependent?

I did and used DDU to clean the old drivers.

No thats not it, I don't have any physx game but I do have it installed as it always installs with any nvidia driver package (unless you uncheck it from installing ofcourse).

I have had this "problem" a few times on my gaming laptop, a clean driver (complete) install solved it.

after wrapping my head around nvidias fancy new voltage control I was able to get 2200Mhz stable that puts it within striking range of a 980ti
dam impressive for a 230 dollar card and it doesn't exceed 65C no matter how much I torment to poor thing

I had a quick look last night, but the axis look backwards on the control.

If you bump everything up the y-axis, it looks like you increase the frequency at which the voltage is applied (I. E. Reduce the voltage at any given frequency)

How are you supposed to manipulate the curve to increase the voltage at the higher frequencies?

I do t suppose you have a SS of your curve?

it is counter intuitive but basically for any given voltage there is a frequency you can't increase voltage independent of frequency the driver has full control over what voltage is allowed so what you do is tune the frequency curve so it does what you want
its a lot of fiddling with gpu-z open and moving the sliders about until you find the peak that the driver will let you have
VOP means that the driver won't scale because it requires more voltage then what it thinks its 'safe'
VREL means that the driver doesn't think the chip will be stable at next boost step so it disallows it

the trick is to calibrate the curve so you squeeze every mhz out of it
I did this by lowering the start of the curve and watching where the voltage sits under full load and then bumping the frequency there until it started giving me VREL/VOP or crashed

run a benchmark at your current clocks make a note of the voltage gpu z report then adjust the 3 sliders on each side o that point in the curve until it either crashes or refuse to boost anymore
then you can level the curve out and fine tune it so it stays in boost

On mine, I have a faint curve and then the adjustable one which is around 20% higher.

Playing with this is gonna keep me occupied today

Okay. I had a very quick go and it would only boost to 1800 afterwards. I'm obviously getting something backwards.

This is what the default curve looks like (after O/C) and it will boost between 2050-2100 MHz.

Edit - I messed up the pic, but VDDC says 1.0430


Which part of the curve should I shift first?

your too far left need be >1050v before you are gonna hit 2100+ stable

lower of offsets 1000 though 1045`ish (so they are below 2000 then push it to 2200-2250 once its >1.050 `ish
you are ramping the clock too fast not enough voltage remember its a curve it follows a set progression

also goto the far left end and pull -100 or so out of the first 5 or 6 points
that will steepen the curve somewhat and help stability at low load

edited to get it to hold boost clock you are gonna need to fine tune to mhz so you overshoot a little and give it enough room to settle into a stable clock
this might mean adding or subtracting offset on EITHER SIDE of your ideal boost section
the goal is to compensate for what the driver is gonna do so make it do what you want
remember that the driver actively pulls clocks/voltages based on temp and ASIC load so if you

want 2200Mhz locked you might need to set the target on the high side of the curve to 2250 and the low side to 2220 ect ect that will give the curve 3 points where its between 2200 to 2250mhz which lets it settle in

and all that has to happen within whatever voltage window the driver will let you have

Okay, I think I understand what you are saying, but not the mechanics of how it all works

So i tried this curve. Now, it will only boost to ~ 1900 and locks up benchmarks.

I feel this is going to be an exercises of multiple attempts and restarts.

you didn't set the powerlimit or temp limit
ok so you are up on 1.05 now thats good now push the 1050 point up to 2200
watch gpu-z and figure out and what point along the curve its crashing
you may just have a bunk chip if it won't do 2200 @ 1.05
edit You can try pushing the points between 1025 and 1050 up to 2088-2128 probly took to much out

the power and temp limits need to be all the way up or it won't feed the voltage or boost
the driver starts pulling boost at 55/65c depending on where the power/temp limit is and fan speed so a more aggressive fan-curve might help

Thanks for the tips. I didn't realize that every time you adjust the curve, you have to re set the power limit.

I got it boosting to where it was before, but the new perfcap reason was a mixture of pwr and vrel.
I saved the profile, and tried some adjustments, but they all crashed the computer needing a hard-reset at the mains.

Loading the same profile keeps causing it to crash still. I think I'm gonna leave it at its original o/c.

Too many hard resets isn't good for my aging system

Here's the last curve that I tried (i think it wasn't crashing when the transition between 1025 - 1050 was slightly more linear)

Yeah. I'm guessing the best this chip can do is 2100 and i see the TDP going up to ~107%.

I've killed my fair share of HDDs/SSDs with hard resets so i'll quit before another dies. These were proper lock ups as well, the case buttons no longer worked and i'd have to turn the computer off at the UPS. I doubt it's an issue with my PSU, but I wouldn't be surprised if my mobo didn't like putting so much power through the PCIe slot.

I did a few more adjustments to the default overclocked profile and managed to get it to consistently boost to 2075-2100, rather than going down to 2025 at times.

I actually understand what's going on with the V Curve now, definitely counter-intuitive.

All the tips you gave will certainly be of help to others that my have better chips.

Nice, my highest is 10 368. It's definitely no slouch! While only slightly ahead of my 280X crossfire setup, I no longer have to deal with driver issues and insane heat.

More than enough for my humble 1080p setup.

Exactly, depends on where the offending circuit is for overclock. Some cards tdr, some hard lock, some reboot. Ordered 2 weeks ago from Amazon, still waiting ... edit: got the email today, SOON!!

It's here! Yah I took the sticker off the fan right after the pic.

650Ti is one of my favorite little nv cards that could, though it's not very fast. Spec says 110w but no way, more like 60 watts.

Don't care for my 760 mini, hot card fan ramps. 960 mini feels gimped by 128-bit vram. Never got to try the 970 mini, was under the impression it also ran warm ramped fan.

Surprised there isn't more 1060 chatter, seems like a crowd pleaser to me. $249, 6GB, 980 performance but 40 watts less.
