Not saying that's not a good thing, but I must point out I'm certain some people are still running codegen's and Deer PSUs somewhere somehow.... lol. That does not make them good PSUs of course (and even I will admit any Corsair is leagues above the names I just mentioned)

Either way, glad that PSU is working for you.

I'm using a RM750 with no problem... is there any bad stuff would happen to the RM series?

I have yet to see one take out components. Typically the worst I see is a crash when they start gaming or no post. They aren't bad powersupplies, but for the money I wouldn't go that route. Just to many of them seem to be bad

Upper tier models of Corsairs have consistently been very reliable and trustworthy. It is their lower tier models that tarnished the brand. In my mind (whatever that means) I expect lower tier models to be just as "reliable" as top tier. They may not be the most efficient, have the best ripple suppression or the tightest regulation. And the lower tier models may not have as quiet a fan, monitoring, and other features. But I still expect the bottom tier models to have a normal life span and not fail pre-maturely. And that is where Corsair has let a lot of buyers down - with pre-mature failures.

And they set themselves up for that disappointment by building a reputation for quality and reliability in their first couple years. There was a time if it said Corsair on label, you knew you had a quality product. But then it seems they sat on their laurels and lowered their standards (at least for their lower tier products) as many units failed prematurely. :(

Computer enthusiasts are fickle people. Burn us once and it takes a very long time earn our trust back.

I have seen 10 year old budget computers come in to have RAM added or to replace a drive that have never been opened up and properly cleaned  that are totally caked with really nasty :fear: :twitch: smoke and cat hair filled layers of heat trapping dust blanketing the entire insides, still chugging along with 250W Deer supplies that were barely adequate when new.

When trying to convince users to buy a quality supply, it is hard to counter their arguments when they have had such good service with their cheap, generic/Deer supplies.

Easily resolved. Tell them they are playing Russian Roulette and you have pulled 3 of 6 shots and lived to tell the tale........so far. :toast:

If they don't heed the advice, well, we did our best.

I find this to be true, and also pretty sad.

But people expect that and act accordingly. Hence, the sadness. If expectations were realistic and understand that MOST things are a 'one off', there wouldn't be anyone 'banning' a brand for such incredibly douchey reasons. Now, of course there are some where you get put through the ringer... but I have seen a lot of people not get brand X for some stupid, STUPID, reasons.

Will be returning it tomorrow. I don't know if the GS 700 2013 edition is still in production and/or still in stock. So if they can't offer me another GS 700, what would be the equivalent/next better replacement that I should expect?

I've RMA a Corsair TX 750 before (since the PSU crapped out -- wouldn't stay on) and since they don't make those models anymore they've upgraded me to the latest model.

I agree. And frankly, when I pay good money for something, I expect it to last too. But if I buy a budget model and it fails pre-maturely, first thing I tell myself is I shouldn't have bought the cheap one.

I learned that the hard way with other things too, like with RJ-45/RJ-11 crimping tools. I wasted money on a $15 crimper, then tossed that and got a $20 crimper and still kept getting a lot of bad crimps - wasting a lot of connectors. So I tossed the second one and "invested" in a quality crimper that cost $35 (15+ years ago). So I ended up spending twice as much as I should have, but now the only wasted crimps I get anymore are due to my eyes not ensuring I have the colors in the right order!

Actually, I am more inclined to rate a maker by how they treat me with RMA when I do have to return a product.

I'm inclined to care VERY little about RMAs how they treat me there. As I said previously, failure rates are, overall, incredibly low, so why would I rate that high on my list, something that, chances are, I won't have to ever use? Could it be a PITA when the time comes. Yep. But the same goes for their hardware, goes to their service. Even with the nightmare that some people say ASUS is, I bet 95% or more are satisfied with that process. You know as well as I do people rush to voice their complaints and nary share things are just fine. I'll take my chances and sweat one less variable I won't likely run into.

What I meant is how a company treats their customers after the sale. If I get a run-around, that will turn me off. But if they immediately say "no problem", treat me with respect as if they really "need" my business in the future, then they will earn some "brand loyalty" from me.
You know as well as I do people rush to voice their complaints and nary share things are just fine.
How true. Most happy people don't complain. This is exactly why are rarely ever pay attention to "user reviews" on Amazon, Newegg, or the like. So often they down rate a product because FedEd delivered it to the next door neighbor, UPS drop kicked the box, the Post Office delivered it a day late, or the user thought he was getting red when Amazon clearly said, "color may vary". :(

The only time I pay attention to user reviews is if there are many complaining about the exact same thing.

Alright everyone, good news here.
Got a brand new sealed Corsair CS750M PSU yesterday. Set it up in my PC and everything seems good. Voltage regulation is better than the GS700 I had and this thing does not heat up even under combined CPU and GPU stress test or simply while gaming. So I am happy now so far.
I have an ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger motherboard that I got as prize from an overclocking competition early this year and am planning to put in an i5 6600K on it. I have 4*8 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz Kingston HyperX Fury RAMs lying around with me. I only need the processor. What do you guys say? Shall I upgrade?

First, good news on the new PSU. I am glad you are happy. To that, if happy, why upgrade? See how long you stay happy.

That's the thing. I still can't find a proper justification as to why I should upgrade. Yes I know I will get USB 3.1, the CPU performance is going to be way better and it will be a lot efficient as well than my overclocked Phenom II X4. But at the end of the day, the system I have can pretty much run anything I throw at it.
If I don't upgrade, the motherboard I got as prize will be left useless. That is why I am confused.

You cannot really take advantage of USB 3.1 unless the connected devices are 3.1 too. As for the rest, I guess that depends on your own priorities and needs, and wants.
