I believe they both can use the same PCB, they just change the size of the memory chips. We'd need a clear picture of the memory chip and a model number off of it to know if it is a 4GB of 8GB card.

I thought it would have less chips if it would be a 4GB PCB, no?

Nope, each chip gives a 32-bit memory interface, 8 chips gives a 256-bit memory bus. So to get small memory size they decrease the capacity of each chip from 8Gb(1GB) each to 4Gb(512MB) each.

Unfortunately, that means your card is only 4GB.

General rule of thumb. AIB cards never ship with more RAM than advertised. This gamble may only pay off with reference cards.

There are lots of things I can do with your serial and model, including registering your product under my name, warranty shenanigans, etc. It is ALWAYS best to blur/remove serial numbers from anything posted online. I'm a rather cautious individual, so others may feel different, but that has always been something I try to avoid doing. It is personal to you and your device. Why would you give it out?

Now we know that, but at the time it was stated that it was a serial number, so I requested a mod or the OP remove it as a safety measure. Since it is not a serial number, of course I have no objections to the model of the memory being posted.

I am truly paranoid about personal information, regardless of content. Probably my line of work has conditioned me to always be extremely cautious with "Non-Public Personal Information". One thing I have learned is that you can never be too careful. If you train yourself (or are trained) to be cautious and never publicly disclose non critical personal information, the critical personal information will never have to be a concern.
