I read that article below on killing the Anniversary Update edition of Windows 10 and just had to try it.

Plugged my Kindle Voyage into a USB 2.0 port and nothing happened - Windows just treated it as a normal USB drive, like always. Tried a couple of times, all good. Plugged it into a USB 3.0 port and it wasn't even recognized. Windows kept going like nothing happened.

Plugged it back into a USB 2.0 port and bam! Down she goes. :laugh:

Unplugged the Kindle, reset the PC and Windows started up fine.

ext3 or ext4? The O/S is a fork of Android for the Amazon Kindle Fire not sure of the e-readers though.

As much as I like MS (they don't deserve half the hate they get), they really need to get thier QA in order. I think in their latest restructure they just fired that department because now consumers are the beta testers for enterprise. Rolling updates for hundreds of millions requires if anything more QA testing than before, not less.

Where did the QR code lead you? Also there seems to be a lot of "Something went wrong" messeges around. If that means there as an error that was solved I don't know.

Seems like the best windows 10 update is to uninstall windows 10.

I play around on 10 time to time, but this is a bit ridiculous lately.

Haven't had any issues iirc myself. Initial release of win 10 (Other than learning curve) and now Anniversary ed. I have a pile of crapware I mean features disabled or outright uninstalled so the o.s. is acting more like 7 than 10. Just mostly Gaming and internet usage. Going to start Crunching for team TPU again soon ( Gotta remember logins ffs) So curious to see if I notice any real gains there. Time will tell.

Even Microsoft knows having SSD and HDD next to it is a dumb thing. So, they are just trying to keep you away from that nonsense...

Not sure what you mean by dumb. :confused:

I've got an SSD for my OS drive and a HDD for data storage and they're physically close together in the case.

Off topic: I really enjoy my Kindle Paperwhite. Well supported by Amazon imo.

I hope Win 10 is ready for release next year when I plan to do a Cannonlake build.

Until then it's Win 7 for me.

The only trouble I've ran into since forcing the update is slow reboots/shutdowns, and some trouble at first mounting a Seagate external USB 3.0 hard disk drive.
It stopped giving me trouble mounting the external before Microsoft started pushing out patches after the AU, not sure how it corrected itself.

Yaaay Powershell broken!

None of this is excusable. I wrote last Friday that issues like the webcam problem would "inevitably recur" due to the problems of Microsoft's current testing regime: lack of internal testing (the people who did this were laid off); Insiders not testing on real systems (because they're advised not to use it on their primary PCs); and Insiders tending to give poor feedback (they're not professional testers, and Microsoft's very weak release notes give no indication of what things have been changed and hence need testing in the first place).
