if they zoom out during the E3 presentation and you can now fly your ship manually in space.. i'm going to faint!!! I can't wait :p

there was a reddit post last year about a new ship travel system. you no longer run up to consoles inside the ship then select where you want to go on the star map. it sounded more like Rebel Galaxy with markers, waypoints, speed up FTL, etc.

this is something I have wanted since the first Mass Effect.

I preferred ME3 over ME2 for three reasons:
1) RPG elements were made more meaningful following the extreme dumbing down they got going from ME1 to ME2.
2) The story in ME3 was a continuation of ME1, not a filler like ME2.
3) There is a wide variety of weapons and they're fun to use. The only weapons I liked in ME2 were the Black Widow and the Locust. The rest felt boring/stale.

Agreed. ME2 is very short in the story department. You'll only be spending about a third of the time focusing on the actual story. The character developments run off on random tangents that mean so little up front and end up meaning so little in the end. ME3's story had some excellent moments. Conclusion to the Geth conflict, the Krogans and more. It took a lot of the important underlying parts of the universe and brought them back to the center. The ending wasn't that good, and some things still meant little (choosing Anderson vs Udina meant nothing, saving the council meant nothing) but the overall story was better. ME2 spent too much time on abused children or lizard men talking about how they failed as a parent. We've heard these stories many times in all kinds of genres; we don't need to hear them in a sci fi.

Hm! I honestly had no trouble with the 'story' in ME2. I always felt like ME2 just had a different focus, one that is much more directed at character development than the overall story of the trilogy. And the characters in ME2 are so incredibly well written, I really didn't care much about the little impact they had on the overall story. I played ME2 as a story on itself, and if you view it as such, the final mission really is the culmination of all your efforts in getting the team together. ME2 is all about the journey itself really.

Well put! I loved ME1 and at first I wasn't a fan of ME2. As I played ME2 though, I was more caught up in the story than the actual gameplay or any features that were no longer present Sounds like Andromeda is going to go back to being heavy on the gameplay and if they keep the story interesting it's going to be (hopefully) a great game.

Yeah, all I am really worried about is Bioware's recent track record with DA:I being the latest big disappointment. That game honestly had an identity crisis, torn between the Ubisoft 'tick all boxes' formula, a single-player MMORPG and some weird console-first no-real-gameplay design totally devoid of depth or progression.

If they pull that stunt again, ME:A will fail miserably.

if you didn't like the game, that's one thing but Dragon Age: Inquisition was a success. the game did well with critics and moved some units according to Bioware.

I remain optimistic Bioware will hit a home run. once upon a time Mass Effect was a very ambitious project.

Mass Effect 2 might be a detour from the Reapers but it's story and pacing is like a Hollywood movie even the trailers for the game were cut as such. Miranda, Mordin, Zaeed, Illusive Man were strong characters. I enjoyed visiting Tali's people, Wrex on Tuchanka and the Shadow Broker DLC was good too.

Zaeed reminds me of Ser Alliser Thorne just nothing but leather and sandpaper :p

War assets + get reinstated as a spectre in ME2. The council members are also sympathetic towards you in ME3 but, for example, the Turian councilor shows some sympathy towards Shepherd because of Earth getting invaded but his hands are tied because Palavan was also invaded. The salaraisn councilor is generally on your side but his hands are tied because "we need the Krogan." The Asari was the only one that surprised me. I wish they wrote it so that if you saved the Asari councilor, you could preempt the attack on the Asari home world which would mean Kai Lang doesn't get the Protheon VI. You'd still have to attack the Cerberus base to prevent getting flanked. I think it would have worked well.

I enjoyed visiting Tali's people, Wrex on Tuchanka and the Shadow Broker DLC was good too.
Me too. I think ME2 would have been good if they made they didn't kill Shepherd at the beginning, made the Collectors minor characters, and focused the plot more on the Krogan, Turians, Salarians, Quarians, and Batarians. The only really major plot event that occurred in the entire ME2 campaign was blowing up the relay to delay the Reaper invasion. ME2 should have allowed Shepherd, as a spectre, to appeal to the Batarian hierarchy and (paragon/renegade) convince them to evacuate the sector and destroy the relay minimizing Batarian casualties.

And to me that is just a sign of poor writing and lack of focus. Well, poor writing is too strong, as the story and characters were much better than most games. But the overall story certainly was a step back. A good story can be propped up by good characters, but good characters can't prop up a flat story. Story wise, ME2 was a filler. I hope ME4 gameplay wise does not have a lot of filler content, but I fear it will. The rage these days is to make everything open world, a bunch of fetch quests, repetitive missions and make the menus as confusing as hell.

I would like more ports (5-6), more quests that occur in them, and in general more open map design. ME2 was very linear, and ME3 only improved that slightly. A decent number of quality side quests is nice. I would love for the series to retain its action shooter/RPG hybrid style. I'd love to see ME1 style planet exploration, but with more interesting things to see/do. What I don't want is an open world with a bunch of "do x 70 times to unlock y" quests, requiring you to do repetitive quests over and over again to get enough money to buy some equipment (MGSV is a big offender of this). Spending hours traveling from point A to B, only for the game to distract you with a bunch of copy/paste side quests which aren't avoidable.

I doubt MEA will have much/any filler. It's a fresh start to the Mass Effect universe.

I think if they just take Mass Effect and flesh out the planet exploration, they'd have a solid title. Something as simple as adding a small colony on the planets with a few available side quests would have worked wonders for the planet exploration.

3 seconds of protagonist, 3 seconds of the Mako and 3 seconds of an Asari face is all you get to see.

first look at <Blank> Ryder aka FemRyder

Hmmm, looks decent. But until I see how weapon load out is done and ammunition. I will wait for reviews. EA is still on my list of do not buy after ME3 and Sim City. Then also the blasted online requirement of Need for Speed.

this video was nothing more than a tease and should be taken lightly.

Nov 7, 2016 "N7 Day" is when Bioware plans on doing a much larger reveal.

Yeah, like I said before, I didn't expect them to until close to holiday season end of year. I'd like to get excited about the whole HDR bit, but when I see high input lag on most displays equipped with it, and the insane prices, it seems the hardware isn't really ready for it yet. Especially when it can't even replicate the glow post processing HDR can.
