The most interesting thing about that RX 480 should be that it has full support for years to come, whereas the 290x is on an older GCN unlikely to get any better still. Good chance that you will earn back that 3% perf difference over time.

Your point?
My point is simple, if he killed the GPU thing that we don't know, as you already said he shouldn't be demanding anything.

You missed the point there... regardless of the situation (there are exceptions, this isnt one lf them...yet...) one shouldnt "demand" anything from anyone. Request is better. You get more out of people with sugar than vinegar!! ;)

HOW it died played no bearing in that days earlier post. :)

Yup. Happens with Appliance repairs, when people start demanding this that and everything else they get the bare minimum from me.

Going to agree with what a lot of people already said. You'd be doing well to get an exact replacement back and the fact that they're giving you something two generations newer with equal performance is very generous of them. I'd make that trade all day long.

I don't know why it died, I suspect defective product, because the last months I noticed that the temperatures on both core and the vrm's where reaching 96+ degrees of Celsius. When I first install it, temperatures never exceeded the upper limit of 86 degrees.

2 years ago when I had some issues with an Asus 7970 GHz edition and artifacts, they replaced the 7970 with a 290x DC2T. But I already had bought the 290x which died.

Here in Greece they made replacements according to both the price and the performance of the product. Always the replacement when an equal product is not available is in favor of the customer with a better product.

Now, according to the price of my 290x, was expensive when I bought it, than the price of the 480 they will replace.

I noticed that I will demand a 480, because I'm a loyal customer to the specified store.

No, English isn't my mother language. :D

I demanded it politely.

This is a portion of the letter I attached with package box, describing the issues and what I did to confirm that the product isn't functional anymore.

"I want the defective product to be replaced with a 390x, or 480, if a 290x isn't available for replacement".

That's pretty normal for RMAs in general.

Expensive when you bought it doesn't have anything to do with what they owe you now. You got years of performance out of it and the only price anyone is going to care about is what they're worth used now (and that price is going to be a *lot* less than the 480 they're sending you as a replacement, which is part of why I say you're getting a *very* good deal here.)

The term is "like for like" or "similar", similar is often not the same though.

Sorry pal, I didn't get you. As a British you have a different perspective for the language. The English language learners, have their own. If a foreigner doesn't practice his English way of speaking to a country which has the English for official language, he'll never learn to speak correctly.

Warranty terminology, so not my language, its the manufacturers language, the words "like" and "similar" translated means that a replacement may not be the "same" card necessarily.

It will be replaced with a Sapphire Radeon RX 480 4GB Nitro (11260-02).

I hope it performs better than the 290x.

Thank you everyone for your answers.
