Win 10 1607 update

It seems there is a problem with the windows update KB3189866 stuck at 45%. any one else?

my laptop successfully updated to 14393.187
but my pc stuck downloading the update at 53%,

Lucky you mine is at 45 for about 4 hours now

hmmmm... dunno, i use my own controlled update program, so it does it when i want. I didnt even know it was there until You posted this thread, so i looked, saw it , and installed it, along with 5 or 6 other updates that have piled up. hope it works for you, good luck.

I wish i did not read this thread, now i checked the available updates on all my 3 computers and sure enough, 2 of them required the KB3189866 .

One is stuck @ 49% and the other @95%, and both are not willing to go any further

If it's like @Countryside , i'm nowhere near done with it

Stop WU, clear softwaredistribution folder, download and install manually (you can copy it on usb stick or distribute via your network and install on all your machines)

Yep, mine stuck at 97%. Then I cleaned out the update, restarted... stuck at 45%.
So, I manually downloaded the KB3189866 from windows catalog site, ran it and it worked.

That's good to know. Those monolithic updates are mostly annoying.

Installed the update manually at the the moment everything is bueno.
It seems that Microsoft has a big problem in there update department windows 7 update has problems win 8 update has problems. Windows 10 update is so-so.

Windows 8.1 after clean install on laptop has been searching updates for 10h now stopping wu and cleaning SoftwareDistribution does not help.

We only had a problem updating a netbook with windows 8.1 32bit (kept searching for updates), other computers with windows 8.1 64bit and even windows 7sp1 no problems updating last tuesday.

Oky this one is HP envy m6 with 64bit and the construction it totally terrible if you want to change paste and clean fan you have to open the hole shibang

I stopped letting windows check for updates, now I wait every other month.

I did not even pay attention to this update until now.
Just checked my update log and discovered at least 10 failed attempts to install it.
Checking for updates manually showed that I'm up to date, though.

Now I simply downloaded an upgrade tool from MS and few minutes later it is already at 82%.

i quite like windows 10 apart from all these f-cking upgrades it thinks it needs to keep doing.. i ran my old win xp system for years with all upgrades turned off apart from doing the service packs when it suited me..

if the constant upgrade process worked it wouldnt be so bad but all this getting stuck somewhere along the line pisses me off big time.. its a monumental f-ck up..

Keep in mind, you must use Internet Explorer to manually download the update. Edge will not work. The first download link is for 64-bit. The third download link is for 32-bit.

So, MS is so frickin dysfunctional, they haven't even bothered to make their new browser which will eventually replace IE11, able to download their own updates?

I couldn't believe my own eyes either when I tried with Edge!!!

pretty much what i did with two out my seven machines.. five took the upgrade okay two kept getting "stuck" .. he he

and yep its weird as regards having to use ie11 to use the windows update catalogue..
