Facebook and Virus Problem (Solved but still open for coment)

Sister is having probs with facebook on my spare laptop ( i don't do Facebook She use's Spare laptop every night when she vists myself and mainly My Dad
She is devoted to him ).

Tonight
She can log on to face book using her husbands details no problems
if she logs on with her own details it says malware /virus infection and she can go no further unless she downloads a facebook tool ????? to scan/fix

now i have run anti virus /malware scans on laptop via lan (mapped Drive ) nothing Detected.

yet it still refuses to let her use her own Details to logon

if she trys she gets this virus download prompt

log on using hubbys details strait in no problems

I dont use face book and i dont want to download any facebook tool to its hard drive

IF There was malware/virus on laptop then she could not logon on with any identity without getting this virus crap yet she can with hubbys id and password

IS THIS ANOTHER FACEBOOK CON/SCAM ????

hmmm, I dont know of any tool that does this. Its possible its a fishing scam. Perhaps its redirected. Have you checked the browsers?

I would reccomend ADW, JRT and looking at the hosts file. If all those are fine I would try resetting the browsers. Can you provide a screenshot?

Time to wipe that drive clean and start over.

That's probably faster than trying to solve whatever is going on. It does seem like a virus redirecting to get username and password.

She Can log on with husbands details no problem
if she use's her own details and password then it prompts her to download a tool to scan /fix problem That ain't going to happen

Bit defender has a small program designed specifically for Facebook. It loads in a user's page on Facebook.

The browser she is using has been hi-jacked.
She, probably, got a message in her timeline or in a message telling her to click a link to watch some utube video; and, boom... it injected a hi-jack into her browser.
Or, she replied to some message from a unknown person.

It is a boring video; but, it explains how to clean out this hi-jack

If it's a nasty try "msconfig" and check in the startup tab, take a look and see if anything with its box checked looks unrelated/dodgy in relation to programmes you have installed installed, if u find something try to disable it on startup, that rarely solves the issue but then you can do a search of the filename to find out where it is located and try to delete it from there.

thats my guess too, something either running @ launch or if She's using a bookmark, or shortcut, its been jacked. pay attention to the URL in the Browser bar, make sure its not something like.....

use touch.facebook.com and first use the ok acct then the "infected" one IN THAT ORDER.

Let us know if anything STILL happens... could be a JS/SQL injection...

use wireshark to compare the differences if anything "triggers" (I hate that word now)

compare the touch.facebook vs the non touch.facebook pages and see what happens.

Personally I use Kaspersky Internet Security and run Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware from time to time.

This is what i suspect(ed)
Browsers checked and cache's flushed same problem ( not Solved)

Does not effect other computers She has tried with other computers Again Browser not hijacked
using hubby logon no problems

went thru all Computer start up options inc MSCONFIG start up on menu
Nothing new or unusual

You get more viruses from facebook then you do porn sites, not that I would know that...

nothing beats Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for something like this. Dont even have to install it to use it.

Scanned hard Drive over Lan ( no virus no malware Detected ).
Scanned Laptop with installed Malwarebytes and Anti virus software ( no Infection ).
Un installed Anti virus and installed different Anti virus ( cross checking in case the other 2 did not detect anything (still nothing Found hair and tweezers time i ain't got a lot left and what i have is getting nervous )

Final solution if all else Fails

well before i comitted myself to the Dread ^^^^^^^^^^^666
i logged on to facebook ( got her logon and password because cannot solve it without it )
Same page with Virus Crap warning After all that time and effort
So before i wiped hard drive i decided to allow Fuckbook to download its "quote Tool"
and it did
as soon as it Run
MY ANTI VIRUS SAND BOXED IT
Tool run in Sand box so it could not make any changes to computer
it found NOTHING AT ALL it then allowed me to continue to logon !!!!!

today logged on to her Facebook no virus warning straight in no problems

Guess i'm not Wiping and reinstalling the laptop hard Drive After all


CONCLUSION DRAWN FROM THIS
There IS/was no virus/malware/Trojan on this laptop

FUCKUPBOOK LOGON HAD/HAS A SCRIPT ATTACHED SERVERSIDE TO USER LOGON (TEMP UNTIL IT HAD RUN AND REPORTED BACK).
SCRIPT WILL ONLY SUCCESSFULLY RUN IF YOU DOWNLOAD THEIR RECOMMENDED ANTI VIRUS SOLUTION AND IT REPORTS SYSTEM CLEAR OF VIRUS ECT.

Id say that account was hacked, there is a means of recovery and forcing others off of the account
