Speed record set by Ferrari driver on 'world's most dangerous road' with 99 bends

The road, located in Tianmen Mountain National Park in central China's Hunan province, is a long and twisting road leading up to the top of the mountain.

It features no less than 99 bends with some of them 180 degrees.

Fabio Barone broke the 11 minute barrier completing the run in 10 minutes and 31 seconds.

In order to earn a better lap time, Barone replaced the original steel body of the car with carbon fibre, reducing the vehicle's body weight by 198 pounds.

According to dangerousroads.org, a database of treacherous roads in the world, the highest point is 4,265 feet above sea level with its lowest point some 656 feet above sea level.

The road took eight years to finish with work starting in 1998 and finishing in 2006.

Mountain roads are usually bad. This one looks really bad. There's a roll over waiting to happen on the left and there's a sheer drop on the right. The driver can't get anything wrong because it's pretty likely it would kill him/her.

I'd like to see Godzilla up there, Nissan's supercar killer.
In no way would I class that road as dangerous, as it's dual lanes and fully surfaced, make it single lane and gravel and I would agree.

Yes there are faaaaaar more dangerous roads in south America for example, I think it was Chile but I'm not sure - in bad shape and regular problems with mother nature. This road is easy as long as you don't want to drive fast - but well he tried it at least.

No but thanks anyway, maybe it was Peru or Argentina but don't waste your time I can look it up myself. I saw it in a german TV show called galileo. It was solo Lane and really in bad shape with a lot of casualties every year.
