Which GPU would you keep?

I have 2 cards and im not 100% which one I want to keep and use on one of my PC's. The PC is running dual boot Windows 10 and 7.

The graphics cards are a HD 6870 1GB and the other is a GTX 750 1GB. Going from what ive seen on benchmarks there very close I think but the 6870 seems to be a head most of the time?

What card should I keep/use?

If it was me... I would sell them both and put the money towards something with more oomph and memory.

If I had to choose,,, I'd stick with the GTX 750 1GB

A bit of everything but it wont be used for a huge amount of gaming.

The GTX 750 I bought cheap off a guy and was thinking about selling it to a client in a second hand PC I putting together for him to play games on.

The HD 6870 is my brothers old card that comes with it original box and eveything.

The GTX 750 pulls <50% of the power of the HD6870. I'd keep it for that reason, plus they're very close.

So from that alone, if the system its going in has size, space or heat limitations - the 750.

If it had been a Tahiti card with GCN, that would have been a no brainer but the 6xxx series isn't GCN so no DX12/Vulkan love.

I voted for 750. They are similar in performance but the 750 uses less power at idle and in gaming so it moves ahead a little I guess over the 6870. Maybe you could sell the 6870 to your client for gaming.

Pre-GCN cards are not worth for gaming since the driver is no longer updated. GTX 750 gets my vote. Though like some say if you could, sell both and buy better card.

I guess it would be worth it to sell the 750 to his client and sell the 6870 and buy something a little better. I just checked the recent sold listings on Ebay and the 6870 sold for between $20 and $40 mostly. One guy paid $85 for one though. I guess you never know what someone is willing to pay until you try.

750 but sell both and get something new with at least 2gb, better 4gb vram. A 960, 380 (x), rx 470. Something like that at least.

If you have the cash, I think you should upgrade to an Intel processor (top Kaby Lake perhaps) and GTX 1080. Your framerates will then take a serious jump. My 2700K / GTX 1080 combination animates games beautifully.

I see you've got a Corsair HX850 PSU there, the same as mine, which will handling a GTX 1080 without even noticing it, saving you some money.

No sadly I dont have the cash at the moment and crap I didnt realise I still have the HX-850 in my specs, I sold it about a month ago and replaced it with a Silverstone 750W

hmmm, ok wrong direction with a weaker PSU, but it would still be good and Silverstone is a good brand too.

Sounds like selling both those cards and then spending whatever you can afford on a new card with that sale money on top will be your best bet. Run it past TPU first for the best advice. :cool:

Doesn´t the 6870 have more raw power?

Since both cards are old, chances are you will have to set everything on low detail anyway.
If you take the gimmicks out of the count, the raw power will shine more. (no 4xAA etc)

I was able to play fallout4 on fullHD with my 6850.
Very low detail of course; but still superb fluenty!

So I know that 6870 will allow you to play recent games for the gameplay they offer, not the visuals.

Perhaps the 750GTX will allow you to turn on some extras on a lower res, and make it visually better than the 6870; but that would mean tweaking each game.

Could be I am wrong; but I know the card and how it performs on more recent titles.
