Is rx 460 a worth upgrade to amd 7770 ghz edition??

Hello friends
Today my 4 years old amd 7770 is dead.
So i was thinking to buy a new graphics card.
After searching for whole day i have decided to go for SAPPHIRE Nitro Radeon RX 460 OC 4GB. $140 on newegg as it has some room for overclocking as compare to other models of rx 460 as it supports 6pin Power connector.

My rig:
Amd fx 8320
8gb ram
Corsair 550w psu
Asus m5a97 le r2.0 motherboard

So i just want to ask is rx 460 worth update to my old 7770 and by how much is rx 460 more powerful as compare to 7770.

Notes : i want gaming at 1080p with sync off , medium to high settings. AA off most of the games.
Target at 40+ fps
My max budget is 140$
I dont want to go for gtx 950 as rx 460 has better support for vulkan and dx 12 ( according to me) and it is newer also.

the 460 is an upgrade. just be aware the 470 is roughly twice as fast.
the 460 is going to be hard pressed to play new titles on high at 1080p

if your current card wasn't dead i'd say save for the 470 or 3gb 1060. since its dead and you have a tight budget. ... perhaps get something cheap and used to hold you over?

I would suggest to make an effort if you can and try to buy the RX470 it would make a lot of difference, but if you don't have the extra cash go for the 460 that is way much better than the 7770. I think you'll have to do some research on what brand you should go with...check reviews and look for temperatures, clocks and price/performance ratio.

Also get a cheap 460 if you go for it. No sense in taking a expensive one that's only 20 bucks cheaper than a 470. The 470 is more than twice as fast as a 460.

I am from india and here cheapest version of rx470 is $265 USD. Impossible to increase my budget to $265.

I would buy used gpu a r9 280x maybe but if you want something new the 460 is okay.

Maybe buy something used? lot's of older GPU's from Nvidia 600/700 series and AMD 7K are faster than RX 460 and cheaper.

Yes, as you can see @op, you can get a gpu 2 classes better than 460 if you buy a used 280X for example - and for about the same money.

So if you can get a used gpu it's nice, if not, maybe look if you can get a new cheap r9 380 - if not take the 460.

I am agreeing with most guys here.
A cheap (2nd hand) R9 x90(x) or R9 x80(x) is excellent.
Else the 460 is a very solid choice

I think according to this rx 460 is not a bad deal. And it is way faster than my old 7770.
As now my old card is dead and i am tight on budget. I will go for rx 460 for now and may update it to rx 470 or 480 after a year.

But i have seen a huge difference between 4gb and 2gb version of rx460 in modern games like doom on vulkan. 4gb version was about 40% faster than 2 gb version.

If you can get the 4 GB version without a hefty price increase, then do it. 2 GB should be enough too, but not in all games.

In most places a 470 is the same price as the 1050TI and outperforms it by 25%, meaning you probably gave away 25% more performance for the same value, or you gave up 25% more money for equal performance.

To anyone who reads this thread after, I suggest you look at the graphs that compare performance per dollar, averaged performance, and overclocking performance increase to determine what cards in your budget will give the best value. The original poster didn't appear to have done this, but I hope that some circumstance allowed the purchase of the card for the 25% less performance at a equal value.
