Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ one fan is not spinning

I load up The witcher 3 and mining some ETH
GPU temp is 76C on full load

pls advise

either the fan isn't properly connected, or the fan is defective.

yep take the card out if you have to and see if the fan is connected with the power cable on the card itself.
also try to see if you can manually rotate the fan to see if something is obstructing movement.

I able to manually rotate the blade, nothing restrict or obstruct the movement
I dont want to dissamble the card, because i afraid of voiding the warranty

I am planning to RMA it to my local distro

thats my intention at first, sadly there is no sapphire representative in my country
only sapphire authorized distro, so direct replacement part from sapphire I dont think its doable

Try and contact sapphire directly. I have had companies send me spares (corsair and CM) when they didn't even need to.

Might be worth downloading sapphire trixx because if i remember right it will be able to detect if one of the fans is faulty. also the fans are ment to stop when not under heavey load just like on this RX 460 nitro i have in the old pc.

suggested, i tried that last night and trixx told me one of fans was faulty...so
clearly from 'physical aspect' the fan is working

anyone can help me?

apparantely 2 fans is spinning during GPU Z stress testing
so... ??

well if trixx says the fan is faulty. get it replaced. just because it spins on power on where its just power being applied doesn't mean the fan controller in the card is happy with it.

Trixx told me one of it faulty
During one of it didnt spinning

I will try it with trixx once again

I just fresh installed amd driver


Update:
So, i checked using trixx fan check
Trixx told me fan health is ok

So happy ending i guess?

Can you get a pic once you have sapphire trixx running please so i can compair it to my sapphire nitro RX 460.

I also believe you can register your card through sapphire trix and when the fan goes faulty the program is supose to contact sapphire so they can send out a new fan to your door, these fans are also designed to be hot swopable by removing 2 screws and this is by design and will not void the warrenty.

OOT : I dont understand why higher end gpu tend to have more issues/bug than low end card
I used R7 250X for years without any hitch or issue
just plug and play...
this card almost gave me a heart attack

Are we even sure its a bug yet? is this card new and did you notice the fan was not spinning and panic? as i said before the fans are ment to stop when the gpu is idle its by design.

I would still like to see a pic of trixx aswell so i can see what it says about your fan then compair it to mine and this is just incase the trixx software itself has a bug.

BTW i forgot to ask but is the fan that is not spinning the one with the blue light on it?

thats correct, fans stopped during gpu idle
the problem was only one fans running during full load, and trixx confirmed that last night I assumed fan was faulty

I did inspection using flash light to make sure the power fans plugged to connector properly and I decide to give another shoot, plug it in mobo
this time I noticed that both fans spinning as soon as i press power button, then its clearly software related issue

One thing i noticed with the RX 460 nitro is the blue led fan nearest the power connector does not spin up for ages even when i was playing the crew so i will check that again and post back in a bit with results. (i know my card is a 460 but its the same cooler)

@OP, in my experience, if it is just the one fan that is defective, I would recommend before you go into the whole RMA process, to reach out to Your Manufacturer, and explain that its just the Shroud, and one fan isn't spinning, they MIGHT just send You the shroud after You provide proof of purchase, or maybe without proof. Powercolor , and another company have done it for me in the past. its certainly worth a shot. just explain You cannot afford the down time, because it is a work PC, etc..

Register Your card with sapphire if you can then if one of the fans does have an issue then trixx should send info to sapphire so they can send a new fan to your door. (Thats what i can gather from this)

Since it's the first major release since AMD launched its new generation "Polaris" GPUs, TriXX supports the Radeon RX 480, RX 470, and RX 460; with special features supported on Sapphire custom-design graphics cards. To begin with, on the new Sapphire NITRO+ series graphics cards, it features the Fan Check function, which tests the health of the fans, and alerts customer support to send replacement fans.

Sorry for the double post.

After testing this RX 460 nitro+ i noticed none of the fans spin once i get into windows and the fans will stay idle until the GPU reaches about 50+c

I also think crimson drivers are a bit buggy with this card atm as i had an issue where crimson driver was saying the gpu is at 50c and fans were going mad but nothing was running and temps would not drop at all untill i restarted lol.

All in all i do not think there is anything wrong with your RX 480 nitro+ to be honest so for now all i can say is just keep an eye on things for a few more days.

I guess that's normal because the rx460 is a low power gpu. It only starts spinning when a specific temperature is reached and with a rx460 it takes longer compared to a rx480 which is more than double the power.

Maybe so but its the same cooler at the end of the day and works the same way overall so i do not think the op's fan is faulty.

I don't realy care to be honest as i was just trying help work out if the ops fan was broken or not and after testing some stuff i say its not broken.
