Why isn't there any amd am3+ motherboards with pcie 3.0 x16 slot's ?

With the more mainstream performing fm2+ theres alot of motherboards with pcie 3.0 x16

If you buy an amd motherboard with pcie 3.0 x 16 you expect people to want a cpu from the fx series with better performance than the fm2+ cpu's

So why isn't there ANY am3+ motherboards with pcie 3.0 x16, i mean a fm2+ cpu like a a10 with a good apgu doesn't need pcie 3.0 x16 to perform as good as it can.

The asus Sabertooth 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 does:

The 990FX chipset (top end AM3+ chipset) only supports up to pcie 2.0 because it was released ages ago. The fm2+ platform is newer, therefore there is support for pcie 3.0

Well, reason is its the cpu. the pci chip that controls the lanes is usually on the cpu itself so they would have to re-release the cpu to support it which sadly is pointless since performance of things like gpu doesn't gain enough to worry about. Only way around it would be a am3 board with a PLX chip but then still cpu is limited to 2.0 speeds so kinda waste anyway.

I know they HAVE made this mb, but doesn't any more, if people buy a modern gpu or just something as fast as a gtx 980/1060 and want pcie 3.0 x16, they want fm2+, the fastest is a10-7980k and athlon x4 880k (released in 2016) , i have seen a youtube video where a athlon x4 880k i remebered it oc'ed to 4.5 or 4.6ghz being bottlenecked byt the gpu/bf1 beta

Meaning in bf 1 beta the cpu was utilized by 100% (didn't looked like it was lagging) only using a palit jet stream gtx 1060, so you can't even use a gtx 980/1060 if you want pci e 3.0 x16 with a amd mb

In the case of AM3+ the PCI-E comes from the Northbridge, not the CPU. I think AM3+ was the last platform to do it this way. So they would really only need to update the 990FX/990X chipset to add PCI-E 3.0 to AM3+. But at this point, like you said, it isn't worth it.

i'd wait a few months for zen. if you just want something amd. theres plenty of dirt cheap cpu/mb combos out there.

No pcie 3.0 x16, i do how ever prefer asus since the have fan control better than all the other brands, it allows the fans to run between min and max rpm and not 40 or 50% to 100%

I used this board with an FX-9590 CPU and it was great. I gifted the system to my son and he loves it.
I had no graphics bottlenecking with two GTX-980s in it running SLI.

you don't need 3.0 for 1060. You don't even need 3.0 for a TITAN XP. The 990FX-Gaming G1 is one of the best AM3+ boards at that price point and has more features than any ASUS board excluding the Crosshair V Formula.

The G1 Gaming provided good fan control for me. I didn't find anything at fault with its features.
I certainly would have kept the board and the FX-9950 CPU if my son hadn't needed something powerful and reliable for his engineering design work.

I have an ASUS Intel based board and it's fan control software isn't any better or worse than Gigabyte is.

In my opinion, the G1 Gaming board is the best 990FX board out there.

Asus can measure minimum and maximum rpm and there for can let the fans run between max and minimum rpm, something like msi can only run the fans as low as 50% for case fans not low enough to make them inaudible, cpu cooler speed is low enough.

I can try amd without paying nothing extra since i have some hardware i can sell, also im a bit of a hifi,pc nerd so it's not unusually when people like me want to upgrade/downgrade, doing that gives me experience with amd, as long as it won't bottleneck my gtx 1060 im fine (way above 60 fps in the games i play in medium to max setting in new and old games)
