I agree the story is really great and the gunplay is very good too, no mouse acceleration or anything weird, just raw gunplay. I would say the graphics overall are good, with faces and bodies overall being amazing but there is something weird about the lighting, especially the lighting of the cars it's just off somehow. While the graphics options are improved with the patch there still needs to be a way to turn off AA entirely imo. I hope the high CPU usage is just a product of less than optimal coding for PC because I really would like to see a lowing of it if at all possible so I can keep a solid 60FPS no matter what but one can dream.

I do have to agree with you. The lighting is a negative, and not just the cars, because shadowy areas are really murky. The gunplay though, is really very good!

Game keeps crashing on me, has happened 3 times tonight already within less than an hour.

EDIT: Looks like it might be due to the graphics mod. Updated to latest drivers which have support or Mafia 3 and no changes.

Hopefully the drivers catch up with it sooner than later. Wish I had grabbed a copy for myself when i bought the giveaway key.i'm sure it'll go on sale again soon enough

I haven't seen any shadow of multiplayer in this game.

The game runs smooth enough for me at 3440x1440 all details maxed, I have around 60 FPS but I am not really impressed with the graphics maybe because it's cartoonish style.

Yeah. The AA is horid on this one quality wisw. Anything except low is crap. How do you disable low even, since FXAA is still junk. I want to use my own SweetFX SMAA thank you.

I call bullshit on 60fps all maxxed at that resolution. Even the benchmarks showed below 60 on 1080p on a single 1080.

Enjoying the game very much, it has some quality I can't so simply put my finger on.

Turn on simulation, though it is still arcadey, it is better. TBH I don't want any kind of real simulation in a game like this anyways...I liked GTA IV's driving for instance, so take that as you will.

The damage model sucks; a lot of people are saying it is worse than Mafia 2, and I partly agree - I can scrape up against things and even hit them at decent speeds and nothing happens. However, in Mafia 2 I could barely scrape something and my hood was crumpled up and fucked. Being a car guy and ocd'ish about that stuff, I HATE when my car looks bad so I have to go fix it or steal another...I secretly like Mafia 3 in that respect, but I would like an actual good damage model.

The music selection is insane! They outdid themselves gathering music of the period. And yeah, even tho a different studio, they managed to get that undefinable Mafia game "feel."

I played up past 9 hours and continue to be impressed by the gunplay. I have realized, with all that is still ahead in the city, this game is going to be huge, content-wise!

OMG, I've lost all my money TWICE! Died, and then realized I had put it off for too long. As a result, I can never buy anything but ammo.

Yeah I've lost about 3k twice by getting killed by cops. Just started putting some stuff in my safe; but can you use that to buy (ammo/guns? What else can you buy?) stuff or do you have to to retrieve it?

I mean any game can have bugs...you can make a video about nearly every game out and show off what issues it has. So far, I haven't ran into anything like that at 3.5 hours in.

One thing that does annoy the shit out of me is that I can drive a car into the river (because it's an open world game and I do stuff like that) and I have to swim for like 5 solid minutes to get out; I can't just go to the bank and hop out. I had to swim all the way until I found a hidden stairway that led into the water that I could get out of. That's ridiculous.

Everything on High, I get ~40-50 fps on 3440x1440. I had to reduce the mouse to about 2.0 sensitivity, and put AA on low.
But the guy above was right. The graphics is good but feels a little cartoonish.

That's the 7 minute video I referred to earlier that is absolute BS. 10 hours in and I haven't had one of those.

Obviously system problems. If they were game problems, all of us here would have encountered them.

There are people who want to gain attention by trying to create videos like that. They do whatever they can to create such problems which are pretty hard to recreate and call games "flawed".

I have been playing it for a while now and while I personally enjoy many aspects of the game I do find it to be a tad boring at times. I really wish the graphics in some spots were also a bit better and the car physics (Mostly for wrecks and such) were alot better as I think its too forgiving at times which ruins some of the immersion (I guess Mafia 2 was the same way but that was so long ago I forgave it). Have not experienced many bugs more than graphical errors, think the biggest problem is the foolish 30FPS cap but that is going to be alleviated soon so I am just waiting on the patch (IF its out someone point me to it so I can play).

Waiting on a little bit of patching before continuing because some of these things are lowering the experience and I want to experience the game at its fullest before I fully judge it. Still, so far I am enjoying what I have played.

I'm trying to "drip feed" myself this one as much as I want to just do one of my "all in one sitting" benders I am trying to hold out for more improvements, not too mention I bought Deluxe so I have the Season Pass too boot and some Pre-order stuff I have no idea where/what it is or where to get it.

That said what I have played has definitely tickled my Mafia itch. The small details are just so cool. I mean the radio loses reception in a tunnel? GTFO!!?? Oh and I bought a new mouse last week(G502 Proteus Spectrum) and when the cops are after me it flashes blue and red, BUT 85% there is no lighting for either my keyboard(G19s) or my mouse so they need to work a little on the profile IMO.

I'll do a video if you want when I get home my video card is working at approx 2070mhz for the core and 10400mhz for the memory .I'll have to double check on the graphics details but from what I remember they were all maxed out .

Yeah, plays reasonably well on my system, albeit at medium@1080p.
Stays close to 60fps that way. Maybe later it could go lower, but can't judge that yet at this stage.
No blur/dof for me either, I always disliked it.

And I agree, cranking up the settings doesn't make it look that much better, imo.

Not a bad game, good story yes, but maybe later it will be boring according to some reviews?
Well, we'll see.
Maybe some driver/game optimization for videocards.
Feels like my i7 is good enough.
