Pc restart instead of shutdown after brief powerloss.

Hello. Fast question. I dont know why it happened.



In my house powerloss ( 1 second? ) was very brief ,then pc rebooted instead of shutdown.


My pc get restarted instead of shutdown.Any ideas?

I ask because i have in bios option AC Power Loss POWER OFF.

I wouldn't worry too much about it and I would recommend you consider installing a UPS for that computer so it doesn't have to deal with these outages and fluxuations in power reliability. It'll save you in the long run.

Odds are it was short enough to cause a low voltage situation but came back on fast enough that it wasn't detected as a full outage so the system booted...there's a hundred different theories I could come up with between why the PSU did what it did and why the mainboard allowed a reboot instead of power off. But regardless...if you have been experiencing these kinds of outages, even just a time or two... it is a good idea to invest in a UPS. I prefer CyberPower and have this one, and an APC Pro UPS 1500 I salvaged and refurbished. Both work great, but I've seen so many failures with APC units in the past 3 years that I can't stand by them as a recommendation over Cyberpower.

When i manually cut power for longer time pc will not boot itself when power back, because i have AC POWER LOSS POWER OFF in bios.
But few days ago when power due to switch of electric fuse was off only for 1 second pc restarts instead of shutdown.

That's pretty much normal behavior. You can emulate this by flipping the power switch on/off on any modern PSU for a few fractions of a second, if you were so inclined.

It's just how it works.

I don't have the "startup automatically after a power failure". Dont have UPS.







So that seems to indicated that computer shut down and restarted on its own?



I did a test. I unplugged my pc for about a minute. It didn't start up on its own. When I did start it up (after I turned it on), it said the same thing as above.



Could it be that there was a very brief power disruption/flicker that caused it to reboot on its own? I cant understand this. Hope you will explain me this Thank you

We have all answered you, you choose not to accept the answers. If you want a more definitive answer for why the mainboard performed as it did, you'd really have to contact the engineers that designed the Asus board you're using. That's not us.

You say you don't have a UPS, I said you should buy one to mitigate these kind of outages instead of duplicating them. Duplicating them could lead to failures in your system.

I don't believe you'll find the answer you want, but regardless of that, you have already been given the answers you're going to get. Nobody has really made a big issue out of this as there are some various reasons, such as the Asus anti-surge, the ways a PSU operates, and if full power loss isn't realized there is always a chance the system will boot again instead of staying off. I wouldn't waste much more time focusing on this matter if I were you, but if you do, you might want to keep looking not sure what else we can offer you that you'll accept as an answer.

If you are so damned worried about it go blow 3000 bux on a new machine with a ups.

The power wasn't off long enough to do a full shut down the board did a restart because for a few monents you didnt have a power good signal.

Even with surge protection you can damage your PC...so stop testing now if that's what you're doing. It's your hardware and your funds if you fry something. But there's no reason to and it makes no sense as to why you're so focused on this???

That screen is telling you a surge was detected and that it attempted to mitigate it using Asus anti-surge. As I clearly stated prior, if this keeps happening or you keep duplicating it to test the off/reboot that you're focused on, you will cause damage. I would recommend you stop duplicating it if you still are.

Buy a UPS and be done with it if you are in an area with unstable power, stop testing and duplicating the power outage, just stop.

No offense, but the way this thread is playing out seems like you're trolling..and if you are its not funny and is wasting time, if you aren't then I'm not sure what else you want, even your previous question was already answered above so I'm just repeating myself over and over, so is anyone else that posts in here to help you.

We've had a lot of these troll threads where a new user joins, asks questions, we answer, they argue or don't accept answers and keep asking the same questions in a slightly different way. I hope that is not the case here...but regardless not sure what else you're looking for here if you're not trolling.

hence the warning labels on power supplies not to lick the contents.

Since no one else has a remote idea, I would point to bios setting. Likely you have set in Bios to turn on in events like that. when power is restored to boot the machine up.

generally a single power failure will not damage the system. the error indicates the motherboards protection mechanisms worked.

as for why it turned back on when the bios is set to not restore it after power loss: ask asus. all we can do is guess.
