HDMI if not grounded properly from a tv/monitor can create a foreign voltage that can cause stuff to suddenly quit.

Change the power strip To a fresh power strip, otherwise try a different outlet, ensure the motherboard bios is updated to latest.

Otherwise change that psu or try the gpu in a different machine.

black screen when gaming does sound more like PSU, if its exclusively while gaming and temps are low.

That, or something without a sensor is overheating

I had the same issue when I was using a different monitor with DVI. Only difference was that the monitor displayed stripes instead of a total black screen.

I ordered a Corsair CX600. It seems to be a decent budget PSU. Will try it out as soon as it gets here and post an update.

I also noted that if my PC gets a blakcscreen and I immediatly reboot my PC and get back in the game it is very likely that my PC is going to get another blackscreen in the next 5-10 minutes.

That is a video card issue. I've had that issue before, long time ago. I think, about 60% sure, it might have bad on-card memory. The other 40% is that its a monitor compatibility as strange as that sounds.

That would mean that both my old video card (that generated stripes instead of blackscreens) and my new RX 480 are defective. That's why we ruled it out, my GPU is brand new.
Still, if what you say is true i got insane bad luck :(

could be PSU and GPU at once. The hardest problems to diagnose are the ones with two causes.

I wiped my SSD and my HDD. I have no idea if a malware could cause the issues i've had so far but it doesn't hurt to try.

Update : I'm still getting blackscreens.

You know, my active DisplayPort adapter for display #3 just failed a couple days ago for me. I was encountering issues where the display would cut out and come back and would sometimes crash the machine (X seemed to indicate that bad EDID information was getting sent,) before failing all together. Little did I know, the 390 can drive HDMI while driving the two DVI ports, and I found out very quickly the issue I was having was with the adapter.

This isn't to say your issue is the same but, if the display is cutting out but, audio from the game is still normal (not repeating like the computer crashed,) then it's more than reasonable to assume that the cable (or adapter if there is one,) is at fault. Just my 2 cents.

Its possible. It could be that the PSU did screw up both cards, we will see when you get your new PSU.

They say that shit rolls down hill, on the other hand, is a snowball. Bad PSU can brick a whole system. I had one take out 3 hard drives in one big poof. thank god it wasnt a single rail.

Computer just randomly insta rebooted while I was browsing, at first I thought that I had lost power. Just checked event viewer :

Event 41, Kernel Power -
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Not sure if this is valuable info.
