The majorty of my time was spent Coop. Exploring, Trading, RES. everything. I don't play much anymore because no one else plays anymore

Pretty much same reason i don't play, you kinda need people who play as much as you, even more so if your exploring.

Although for some reason each time i come to this thread it loads up on my pics which make me feel like playing again :p. If ya up for playing again give me a buzz, even more so if it's exploring as thats good for getting used to the controls again :D.

I'm kinda waiting for the next update to dive back in. I read you will be able to move your ships. I have quite a few "Sidey Bookmarks" scattered about I would like to collect up and sell off. All my other ships are at my Home Station.

I've been playing my usual Solo lately, a little bit here and there. Decided to break away and run some missions to build up some party favor. Earning decently well and seeing new sights and places in the 'verse has been good and refreshing. This game is entertaining and beautiful. When bored I have my second screen with TPU pulled up for those long hauls...if I don't get interdicted.

I realized there's so much I haven't done or mastered in this game yet. So I'm going to just kinda go do some stuff, earn some credits, I'll probably fall back into the combat and bounty hunting at RES sites, but we shall see. I want to get more ships, and only have 30 mil, so I need MOAR!!!

I'm looking very much forward to future updates, though I'm not really interested in hauling VIP or people around, but having a larger ship with fighters and AI to pilot whichever ship sounds fun. I need to try out the Engineers mods on my ship(s), I want to actually try to be good at smuggling, etc. And even maybe try MP sometime as I've never really given it a fair shake beyond a couple of times.

Still runs better than and is more fun than SC at this point...though that is getting better in small steps too. Glad to own both!

:toast:
I hear you: I'm spending all my time still in BDO. I still have the HOTAS I got last year, sitting in the cabinet under the desk, being hopeful heheh. But, as I said earlier, I don't want to start either one seriously until I can assign tons of time into them.

Well, I am barely over 1 mil and I am trying to figure out how to make money by trial and error.

I am trying to grasp how things like the engineers work. I have a week of vacation ahead of me and I will most probably try to get a better comprehension of things during that time.

I will have to check what they are planning, as for ships only have 2 one being a Vulture and a Python although the python has silly a silly amount of credits put in to it lol.

Probably better off forgetting about the engineers for now at least, mining is very slow and tedious, try exploring but go to the edge of civilization with a space station kit a little extra fuel and a good fuel scoop with no cargo hold and explore away from civilization on eco mode so you only make small jumps which there be a much less chance of running out of fuel, all so learn which planets you can get fuel from, at this time i don't remember them all ( 5 i think ) but remember 3 for obvious reasons KGB.

I been debating about buying and trying out Elite.

Though, don't think my high ping would work out well.

It's quite light on Bandwidth actually. You can also go Solo which uses even less.

Hmmm, then I may still get it. It just with 600+ pings kind of gives delay in movement at times when I play even Minecraft online.

Well you will probably find your "Starter System" is gonna be laggy regardless, pretty much everybody lags there but getting out and away a few systems it smooths out.

So I've decided to make the trip to Sothis to see if I can do some runs, build up my cred and account faster.

This is after I spent some time speccing out my Viper Mk IV and taking it over to the Don system for some RES action. Payouts in the High RES outside of Soloyov have been pretty weak...that and this ship is taking some getting used to since I'm so used to my Cobra Mk III...which has been my bread and butter work-horse for over a year. I want some different weapons, but need to search them out.

So I decided I'd buy a cheap Cobra Mk III for the 500LY trip to Sothis from Don. No weapons, all engine, fuel, some cargo, a good scoop, and a good scanner. Figure I'll pick up some exploration earnings and rankings while I'm en route. Not sure what to expect with such a popular place...but it will be a nice change of pace to get to a different side of the colonized universe even if it's just to get there and return back to my stomping grounds. Probably going to take me a looooong time to get there being that I have small pockets of time to play. But hoping to hit some good contracts/missions, maybe even get into some smuggling, get an Asp E, Python, and a few others on my ship bucket list. I guess we shall see!

My beloved Cobra MKIII is my Explorer. First ship I fully A-Specced so I will never sell it and I have bought many skins for it. I do kinda miss having a Viper I had bought a Canadian Flag Skin for it so I do kinda want to just "have it" but I have a Vulture that is way better suited for combat than the Viper. That said my A-Spec Python still sees the most use of all of them. It's my workhorse.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
so, time to bump that thread ... as i wrote in "what are you playing" gave a go at Elite : Dangerous... (since it got a nice "week end" deal)

playing mostly solo, for 2 reason, 1: needing to configure precisely my Speedlink Airrow 2: need to remember what button i configure ... (nota bene: i really need to do a "layout" pics for that ... ) because a wrong action in solo is not as bad as if it was in multi

little gif that almost make me want to have a Rift or Vive ... (although i could also use either TrinusVR in window mode or Riftcat in STEAM VR mode ... but my Honor 5X has no gyro  )
output_wr02fk (1).gifoutput_w3gdar (1).gif

mostly running courier mission for "easy money"

well i have to say that my Airrow is quite ... surprising, feels better than the X-55 Rhino stick (minus the separate Throttle), i saw some review that said the Speedlink was a heavily downgraded VKB Gladiator or RavCore Javelin, but on opposite of all that has been said it's not the same as the one they reviewed, by personal comparison the build quality and features are not those of the Airrow and it even shows a lot of similarity with the Gladiator or Javelin, i can use the config soft of the Javelin and the controller board is indeed the same Njoy32 as the Javelin and Gladiator... maybe the one sold in Switzerland is not the same model as the one for Europe... the Gladiator has 2 version 1 for non EU country and 1 for EU (always out of stock for the EU version and quite more expensive ) the Javelin is a polish OEM model and pricing is a tad higher too, i paid 74.55chf for it which is lower than the 99$ to 249$ asked on Amazon for the VKB, plus it has the "sys" and "pedal" RJ45 connector (which are mentioned as "missing" in all the reviews i saw about the Airrow)
the aforementioned connectors
pen02.jpg

that being said ... if i ever want to get a throttle in addition... i guess i could go for that one... even with that addition the combo would still be cheaper than my previous X-55 and the new X-56

Elite Dangerous: The Guardians 2.2 update (13GB for me as i have Horizons )
Community Announcements - BrettC_Frontier
Hi guys,

The time has finally arrived! Today sees both the Elite Dangerous Horizons (2.2) update and the Elite Dangerous (1.7) update making its way to the live game.

For those of you who haven't experienced a big milestone day, these updates can take several hours to install and make live. The servers will be down from 10am BST and will be down for an extended period of time (up to 8+ hours)

Xbox One players will see that the download will be available from 11am to pre-install but the game won’t be playable until the servers are back up. The size of that download is 9.7gb which is a file increase of 1.8gb

In the meantime we have a couple of exciting things going on today to keep you entertained while you wait for the updates to be added.

Join David Braben on a Reddit AMA from 10:00 - 12:00 BST. Followed by Ed Lewis and a series of developers from 1pm BST on our official YouTube channel.

The development team have been working incredibly hard over the recent months developing the game and working with our fantastic beta community to test, adjust and test again the upcoming version of the game so please give the beta community and the developers lots of thanks and support.

Update details ( don't hold your breath it's frigging loooong.

I.K.R .... i made a second steam folder on a SSHD 1tb/8gb ... which replaced a dedicated SSD 60gb that served for some other games, when my standard 1tb 7200rpm HDD ran out of space ...

curiously ... it seems that only the games i had on my "almost full" HDD were the one who get a lot of big updates (big : above 3gb)

oh that remind me that i have to updates my sys specs accordingly ... thanks ...

got my 1st bandit on a courier mission :D i confirm that the Airrow is a superbe flightstick, stable, extra responsive and precise, i mapped the vectorial thrust on the coolie-hat in mode 2(red LED on the base) + shift ... a total breeze to land and also the safety trigger mechanism is awesome.
20161026195451_1.jpg

and i've learned to ALWAYS ANALYZE every system waypoint during a trip ... hard way : out of fuel in a deserted system

hop 1st ship owned : Hauler ... well i am a transporter at core ... thanks to universal cartographic, it's a nice moneymaker when taking only courier (nonetheless the bandit i got on the previous mission got me a 10k credits bonus :D too bad i was low on fuel on the 2nd encounter but i managed to FSD my way out of the fight and arrive safely at destination.)
20161026230141_1.jpg

cute little one for saying .. a little reminiscent of shuttles and the famous Boing X-37
1 laser less but ... oh well, still happy as a tick on a dog's back

aherm that was faster than i thought ... 2nd : Adder a lil less cargo more fuel more durable a little more punch (and a big space for the commander and the ... EH???? my copilot seat is empty o_O )

I have to disagree, from Beta to Gamma to release, IIRC it got a little smaller if anything...and at actual release (12.16.2014) was under 4GB...if you removed Gamma and only had the base game I don't recall it being any larger than 4-ish GB. I did the same thing but on a 120GB SSD at the time in my main gaming rig. I really do recall it being approx 3.7GB in size at one point for a while..then up to 4.6 after some added content...maybe the wings and CQC, then around 5-ish for some time as well...then I stopped keeping track. Never did care for it installing in Appdata, but then I never did anything about it.

Here's a thread discussing that 4 months after release, here's one 6 months after stating just over 5GB, and this one on release day stating around 3.5-3.6GB for the game itself. I just took a screenshot below of the current size...crazy to think the game is over 5X larger than what we had on release day! Not saying it's always been tiny, but for a long time after release it was, IMHO surprisingly so. Frankly I have no issues with it growing in size! Also keep in mind the picture below is before the 2.2 upgrade which I am starting after posting this. Curious to see what size it is afterwards.

Also check out the original folder creation date...this is on my laptop and not my main gaming rig ATM...my main rig has a fresh install more recently (this year)...this folder likely has files dating back to alpha, beta, and gamma days...unless Frontier implemented some file cleaning. It's also before this thread was even started! LOL!
