Best course of action to upgrade?

Hello, I am very interested in upgrading my computer within the upcoming 2 months (aiming to get every component by/around Christmas season). I had previously built my own computer about 7 years ago, and I had upgraded a couple of parts within that timeframe as well. I'm not extremely tech-savvy so I do apologize if my questions seem very novice. I mainly use my computer for video games and live streaming. Now my question is, should I upgrade certain parts of my current computer, or should I just build a brand new one?

My current PC:
CPU : i5-2500 @ 3.3GHz
Graphics : NVIDIA GTX 760
RAM : 8GB
Motherboard : ASUS P8Z68-V LE
PSU : 650W
H50 Corsair liquid CPU cooler

Generally speaking, my current setup runs most games very well at low-medium settings. I want to upgrade the CPU, graphics card, and RAM to something higher end in the current market (e.g. i7 6700k, GTX 1070, 16GB RAM). Would my current motherboard and PSU be enough to support these upgrades?

I am assuming at this point that it would be very difficult to do the upgrade on my current setup, and would be more successful if I do build from scratch. If my assumptions are correct, I have some some questions for the build.
Let's say I get the parts above (i7-6700k and GTX 1070), what is the best motherboard to get? I only plan to have a single GPU (no need for more than 2 PCI-e slots), 16GB RAM, and might not upgrade more than once or twice for next 5+ years. I also don't plan to overclock anything. I want to stay below the $200 border for this. Obviously I'd prefer a much cheaper motherboard can provide the same performance.
I'm also assuming at this point, that a 750W PSU is more than enough to provide the power to these components.

If anyone wants to take it a step further to help me, I would love to look at builds you guys recommend. I am looking to buy everything except a CPU from canadacomputers.com or newegg.ca . My budget would be around $1000 for everything (except the CPU). Everything is currently full price, and I plan to get certain parts cheaper when it gets closer to the Christmas season, but I still want to see what you guys recommend for the budget.

Thank you guys very much in advance! If anything is unclear, please feel free to ask, I will be checking back on this thread often. Thanks again! :)

If the PSU is of decent quality, then I would say just drop in a new GPU and you are good to go.

So if you change the CPU you have to change the motherboard and memory. So just get that GTX 1070 and your good. What brand PSU?

Go to a 3770k, 1070, and get another 8GB kit.

It's a random brand PSU, so I'm assuming its not that great of a quality.
I plan to 100% upgrade the CPU, so that probably means I do have to get a new motherboard and memory. And suggestions on motherboards?

Exactly what I was thinking. Or even just the last two and a better PSU. Get the new board and processor next year after reviews are in on Kaby Lake. Unless you plan on using W7 which M$ is disabling support for on ALL new processors.

Right, you should upgrade that no-name PSU regardless of what else you do with your PC, since it can take out the rest of your system when it fails. Good brands are Seasonic, Corsair, Enermax etc. These are designed to fail in a safe manner which is very unlikely to damage your PC. Go for at least an 850W model too. They're not that expensive and will have so much reserve power that you won't ever risk overloading them.

For the rest of it, get a Skylake CPU (out soon) likely the 7700, a lower end mobo without the fancy overclocking ability, to save you some money and 16GB DDR4. This will give you significantly faster framerates in the latest games than that old 2500K. I'm in a similar situation with a 2600K and am looking to upgrade that in the next 6 months or so to a 7700K and a fancy mobo.

I know you want to get a GTX 1070, but I think it's worth stretching for a 1080 even if you're gaming at 1080p, to ensure that framerate stays up when the going gets tough. I've got the Palit one and it's superb - power with silence. Check out the review on TPU. Only thing is it may not be available in your region, but great alternatives exist, such as the MSI Gaming series.

not adding new drivers and disabling support are not the same thing

i'd hold out for the 7700k. no use buying a new proc when they're going to release its successor in a month or so. unless you just get a killer deal on a 6700k

I fear my choice of descriptions falls closer to the mark.

I probably don't plan on getting the newest 7700k, only because I am able to get 50% off on a 6700k, which is basically the entire reason I plan to get a new setup.
What would you recommend as a lower end mobo? Thank you for your input on the PSU and the graphics card, I definitely will consider stretching for the 1080.

Thanks everyone else for your input, I'll consider the options a bit more.
