ok, so i have at this moment my 6th 1080 and 4th 1070 and absolutely all of them have a coil whine

and its laud...

as you can see all brands, FE and clocked models - all do whine

the most quiet noise is generated by evga 1070 but still is laud as hell especially when all of them are watercooled

in most of them i already voided warranty by removing stock cooling so i dont care what i have to do with it - just please tell me there is a way to get rid of it.

few years back i have coild whime from corsair ax PSU and i red about some ideas to fix it and it sugested to use silicon.
Can this work with VGAs? where do i apply it?

I do not want to spend this much money and noth have a quiet PC i ment to build!

Please help!

glue gun over coils.

You basically melt it on pcb on one side over coil to other side of pcb like a fat thick line.

I can't stand coil whine either, so I made sure to get one that's good for it: the Pailit GTX 1080 GameRock. Seriously quiet cooler and only very slight coil whine. Not possible to completely eliminate it.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_1080_GameRock

Just get the non-Premium one and overclock it if you want and don't bother with the overpriced G-Panel.

I cant say so much about how pascal GPU based cards coil whine, but remember that 900 series also where plage of coil whine and where also hit by coil whine with the first cards i got from EVGA those where two EVGA GTX 970 FTW cards and the cards suffers from coil whine so i returned them.

In the other hand i have only had good thing when it comes to GPU´s from Zotac. I have so far had 7 cards from Zotac and none of them have ever suffered from coil whine over 3 models. 3 x GTX 285, 2 GTX 660 TI and those cards i have now 2 x GTX 970.

If you havent tried Zotac yet them try to find some info about zotac based cards about coil whine, cause Zotac cut maybe be your saving from coil whine. Well it up to you.

By the way some times your PSU can also be the cause of coil whine in your video card.

You might consider a well acoustically insulated case.

My PSU has a bit of coil whine which is noticable with the side panel removed but totally inaudible with it in place.

Sounds like you have very good hearing at that frequency. Me on the other hand can't hear a thing above 3000 Hz coil whine has never been an issue

you can easily "undo" the glue with a little bit of heat to warm the glue up then just peal it off like a sticker, should all come off in one peace, we are after all talking about arts and crafts glue ;)
