I am surprised the GTX 295 still works because I from what I remember they were failing a year or two after release. About 4-5 years ago I had a GTX 285 OC edition and it was a good card.

295 was a fun card back in the day as was the q6600. Between the two I'd expect the cpu to lag more than the gpu. even still a ssd will go a long way to making it seem faster.

I'd expect the biggest issue on the gpu is the sub 1GB of memory per core. Texture wise that will limit the detail you can display. Low details on modern games should still work though and of course higher detail on older ones.

I paired a Gtx 760 with a Q6600 just because that's what I had lying around. Works great.

Bottlenecking is overrated.

I found a QX9650 @ 3.8ghz would bottleneck a Titan (which is only equiv to an RX480/1060 now) in certain games, Mirrors edge catalyst was very choppy even though the fps was pretty good. Overwatch was another that needed more CPU Juice. Generally it wasn't too bad though.

i have a xeon x3220 + 8gb ddr2-800 + 2x GTX295 on my 2nd rig ... and damn i can play everything that matters for me at high res and good fps (WoT, TF2 and GMod... okay armored warfare lags as f*ck)
but i must say... these 295 get pretty hot... in my first custom loop they reached temps around 120c° (at least u dont need to stand up for a tea or to turn on the heaters if u feel cold)

*sry for my bad english*

Apologies for being frank, but you mustn't have had the waterblock mounted properly, either that or you're pulling numbers out of thin air.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
1. The card will NEVER reach 120C.. It will shutdown about 20C before that.
2. A Q6600 will bottleneck a GTX 295... to minmize this bottleneck, overclock the card.
3. I didn't even read the thread...

as i said it was my very first loop, so yeah i know there were many fails, especially airbubbles in the loop and my not so good self mixed liquid... xD
but anyway these cards get hot... pretty hot (atm they run, with all 4 gpus enabled at 80-90% load, at 90-95c°)

You are not understanding... that is not possible. Well, its temp limit is 105C according to NVIDIA.....
