The irony is the war wasn't fought with snipers. It was fought with a fuck load of cannon fodder. Snipers, for the most part (tips hat to @Black Haru) are cowards racking up kills for the e-peen. WW1 was fought with hideous magnitudes of death and shit loads of indiscriminate artillery barrages.
Still is if you PTFO.

I agree, there are way to many people sniping right now due to the fact you can now 1 shot people in the body at certain ranges. I don't mind people playing that kit, they should just use them with the non-scoped variants and run around med ranging people while using the pistol for close range. Its annoying on maps like Sinai Desert where people all crowd up on the mountain with their bipod snipers and lay there for the entire match and wonder why their team lost.

I have made it my journey to unlock the level 10 guns recently and try them all out since I had heard weird things about each one and while I have not yet unlocked the last two I have unlocked the scout class Martini Henry and the Support class (Never used the airburst or Mortar at all yet) Huot. To me these two feel like this:

The Martini Henry feels great and its exactly what I expect a final unlock gun to be like. Its powerful, but has lots of drawbacks including no scope, slow bullet travel, and 1 shot can only be loaded at a time. Fun to use, though not great for all situations.
The HUOT AUTOMATIC LOW WEIGHT ARTILLERY (Had to copy that in since I can't remember the name more than the first word) feel like a disappointing level 10 gun. While in no way do I consider it to be bad (Or as I have heard the worst in the class) as its accuracy running and gunning is pretty great everything else about it is just typical or mediocre. It has a low fire rate, low magazine capacity, similar damage model to all the others, and mediocre reload time. Though I enjoy using it, I don't understand why its the level 10 gun as nothing about it stands out. If anything I think the BAR 1918 should have been the level 10 unlock just based on its stats since it feels more like something special when using it but not perfect (Like the Martini Henry).

Wanna try the others badly though I already know the Hellreigel is OP as I am starting to see it everywhere and just picking one up off a dead body left me with a "Yep, this gun is very strong" impression. Waiting for the first balance changes to fix some things.

I haven't read anything above except pieces but as a sniper I am constantly on the move and taking flags etc.

I started playing recently, mostly been doing TDM and some Domination. I like Domination, where there are no tanks and shit. Feels more balanced and fun imo. That being said, it seems like everybody has better weapons than me and can shoot faster/better/more damage etc. I am level 4 or so and getting matched with people who are 50 - seems like a lot of their winning is just having better weapons.

The starter weapons (excluding scout) are in general pretty mediocre. Unlock strategicly. When you start, pick a class and play it until you have a full kit you are comfortable with. Don't bounce around classes early on, as you will spread your warbonds too thin. If you don't know what to get follow this basic guide:
All classes:
The 1911 is one of the better pistols, stick with it as long as possible to prioritize other unlocks.
Assault :
Starter is the mp18, with this gun the general rule is shoot first or die.
Unlock the automatico ASAP, it takes a lot more skill to use but it is supirior in almost every way. Storm is the best variant, but all 3 are devastating. The a10 is by far the best shotgun, the others are fun, but not worth your money this early. For gadgets stick with AT grenades and the AT rocket gun. Forget dynamite.

Support:
Unlock the Madsen MG immediately. It can be frustrating to deal with the limited FOV, but it is head and shoulders above the other early unlocks. Further on, the mg15 is a good pick for a more traditional (campy) support role, but for agressive ptfo, the BAR and the madsen are the only competitive options.
For gadgets airburst mortar and ammo bags/crate

Medic:
The cei rigott is an inferior gun, but you have no better options early on. Make sure to set it to full auto and pkay very aggressively. It's performance at range is abismal. Despite what some might say, you can do well with this gun. it was one of my fastest primary service stars.
The mondragon and sebeblaster are the guns to get. However yoyt going to have to grind for them.
Med crate/bag and revive needle, of course.

Recon:
I strongly recommend keeping this kit completely unchanged until you have enough seat time to understand what ypu want from your rifle. There really arent any bad sniper rifles, each one has its own purpose and you need to find what your style is first.
My personal picks are the Russian 1895 sniper/infantry and the gewer 98. I was not overly impressed with the SMeLly, but it is very popular and statistically one of the most versatile rifles.
Keep your stock gadgets, use your spot flares relentlessly. Don't try to tear down vehicles with K bullets, use them to distract and misdirected armor away from assault teamates so they can take it out.
This is the first class that you may consider changing your secondary. The 1911 is good, but as I stated above, the frommer stop may as well be a primary. There are equivalent high ROF pistols for every class, but recon stands to reap the largest benafit.

For every single class, your fastesy path to ranking up is to ptfo, even at the cost of a posotive KD. A flag cap is worth more than a few kills.
If you can't find a squad that is keeping orders updated continuously, create your own. You still gain points even with no squadmates, if you can't flag cap at a solid rate, place defensive orders on the flag that is least likely to be captured. Simply maintaining that defend order (make sure to renew it every time it expires) will net you and your squad upwards of 4000 points per game. (Using the average time a game of conquest takes)

Wish they would have fixed Sinai by widening is rather than stretching it.

So I'm reading some of the stuff off Symthic and some stuff off of reddit. Apparently I play this game waaay different and think differently about the guns then everyone else (ie: I think the lvl 10 medic gun is crap and have been using the MK3 for scout). Who knew?

Mast are you in the US or across the pond? If you are "local" you should hook up with us in the TPU teamspeak man. We have our "ways" but we have a great time.

FYI EVERYONE is welcome. I just know our European brothers get crazy lag when playing with us.

Read through the patch, interested to try support guns as they gave them a HUGE set of changes. They seemed to address alot in the patch, wish though the M1903 Experimental got some love but oh well we will just have to wait on that one.

After the patch finally my hands look like Indian hands as a medic for the British Empire. Also there's a new Nvidia driver available for who's interested.

I've just played on a German custom server. No red silhouettes and friendly fire, no spotting foes on mini map. Guess what... Fewer snipers (not server imposed) and not too much indiscriminate cap shelling. More tactical.

Lovely.

Still bombs falling from the skies and fire breathing iron dragons. And AA shellfire whizzing past your ears.

Just played some support with the new patch, huge improvement on the guns at least from what I can tell as I can constant nail people from a pretty far distance now much more easily. Not sure about the extra suppression yet as it was a quick two games but it seemed to be better at least on the rifle front.

I should hope there are fewer snipers. Without a spot mechanic, there is absolutely no excuse to handicap your team by playing a useless class other than to camp and pad your KD.
In battlefield 1, spotting is the scouts only team purpose. You are essentially refusing to carry team vital gadgets so that you can play around with your fancy gun.

Did they make server renting available yet? I didn't see it after the servers came back up this morning.

By the way, DX12 is still a stuttering mess. Part of me wonders if it's hyperthreading as they had a problem with it at BF3 and BF4's release before later solving those issues. I just get random CPU spikes according to the graph.

My biggest gripe is the red outline of enemies. The real 'scout' mechanic is better off squad based and using teamspeak or similar. It's still why I prefer BF to most other multiplayers - getting a headset on and co-operating with a buddy to PTFO. Like @TheMailMan78 said, if it wasn't for the latency and lag, it'd be great to team up with other TPU'ers from across the pond.

The red outline is the effect of one specific gadget. And as I said, without the spot *mechanic* ypu shouldn't play scout. Everyone can and should do what your saying, and any medic with a sebeblaster is just as effective, except they can also heal and revive.
So if there is no functioning spot mechanic, don't play scout, you are hurting your team.
