Maybe this has been brought up before, maybe it hasn't, but has a "privileges" system ever been considered?
I know it wouldn't be simple by any means, but im starting to feel like it might be worth it, From getting 20 PM's in 10 minutes from some bananahead who keeps creating accounts, to the 100th poll about favorite Operating systems, to senseless Threads posts which seem to be in response to a totally different threads, to what seem to be once a month Chinese character filled posts , which almost feel like the Forum equivalent to picking up Your home phone to a Fax tone on the other end.
when I say privileges, i mean a way to remove the ease of creating accounts one after the other by trolls, and other nut jobs. I dont have any real ideas of how to implement, or other specifics, nor is that my reason for posting this, but I still want to know if Mods are considering it, or have tried it, or feel its a senseless waste of time, or an option that wouldnt be possible to put into action.
Loosely, what i think of, is a person signs up....then can do all the regular things like post in threads, thank, ignore , etc....but until the "probationary" period is over, they cannot create a thread, or PM other members, post items fs,etc. If any infraction occurs, or other members report them in excess, they are someway "penalized" either by having theyre accounts revoked, or suspended, etc. am i alone in thinking this by itself would cut down on general ridiculousness? maybe i am, i just thought, id put this out there, and what people think is what they think. im Not claiming its perfect, im not claiming im the first to think of it, im not claiming anything, im just thinking out loud, and hoping to end the common issue of Trolls, time wasters, and idiots.
