Benefits of UEFI

Booting to drives larger than 2Tb
Secure Boot (pain in my ass)
Fast booting (not)
power management (not really)

I felt the same way at first but really if your using SSD for your boot drive then no real benefit

You would have to flash that video card to a UEFI supporting bios (likely an R9 280 bios) the card is prior to the existence of UEFI and doesn't support it for that reason. This is not for the faint of heart and can brick your card.

You can flash the video card to support UEFI or you can't use UEFI. Those are the only two options.

Its risky to flash a GPU. Just use the legacy bios or you might be buying a new video card

What is the model number of that card? Bet it doesn't support UEFI on the current BIOS.

So are you turning on UEFI in the Mobo BIOS, then flipping the switch on the GPU to the (verified UEFI/ not empty or modified BIOS?) as the primary idea of the switch was mostly for modders so we could have a backup BIOS in case we screwed something up.

EDIT** As mentioned, the BIOS on the card will probably need an update too.

Only F43 BIOS and above supports UEFI.

That BIOS (source) number does NOT match any shown on the Gigabyte website, it may have been a interim BIOS used in production. I would suggest using a BIOS directly from the manufacturer, also, if for any reason the update fails your card may well be bricked and rendered unusable, and no one other than you will be held liable for your actions.
