I'm looking forward to SQ42 and agree that Elite: Dangerous (and Evochron Legacy, and Rodina, and FS2 Open, etc...) are keeping my space sim fix in check. As all the pieces of SC Alpha come together, I have no doubts that we'll start to see more in respect to SQ42 as more parts of SC are developed, released, tested, resolved and polished.

I guess the way I see it, is if they're still developing the flight model, user interactions, user models, ship models, FPS in grav and zero-grav scenarios, weapon modeling and more in SC, odds are they probably are going to have trouble making anything worth keeping or converting for SQ42. So why even develop it further until they have a better foundation, a more concrete engine, physics and design of the current systems players are using? Two games, but really the same behind the curtains...and relying on the same parts in the back-end...would kind of make sense to get the one they're testing better developed and working right before going balls deep in development on the other one IMHO.

So clearly there's a story line in-place, and I would bet there's also at least most of the missions to tell and experience that story and its branching options. I feel if they can get to 3.0 in 2017 and are smoothing out lot of the mechanics we are all testing as they get honed out, there will be a better chance of experiencing SQ42.

I'm clearly and admittedly speculating here though.

I'm not too worried about it TBH, when it's released hopefully even the nay sayer's in here will have something to enjoy. Even if they gotta re-buy. :)

CIG's biggest failure is that they haven't finished whatever feature I'm concerned about/want while they're in the middle of making the game. Sorry, I'm just reflecting some folk's mindset here. I enjoy people's simple thoughts.

Quick read of above linked Statment^^^^^^^
As noted above, your payment was a deposit to be used for the “Game Cost” as defined in your crowdfunding pledge agreement (see Sec. 4 of the Commercial Terms, and Sec. IV.A of the subsequent Terms of Service, as applicable, https://robertsspaceindustries.com/tos), and the deposit has since been “earned by CIG and become non-refundable” since it was “used for the Game Cost…” You also agreed to “irrevocably waive any claim for refund of any deposit amount that has been used for the Game Cost and Pledge Item Cost ….” The only exception would be a return of unearned funds remaining in case of an abandonment of the project; this exception does not apply as we have not abandoned development. If you pledged on Kickstarter, you agreed to these terms when you transferred your pledge account to robertsspaceindustries.com.

Well as I stated I bought it for SQ42 which has had more than few "release dates" that are long past and now it's to the point of no proposed dates at all. I mean I'm not invested in this game to any extent I bought the basic package to get me that and have no intention of spending any more on it. I do find it funny tho the package I bought for $45 is now $60...

I'm not denying SQ42 has had many release dates. They did always say that prices will go up. Early backers got better prices.. though that's debatable with some sales that have happened.

SQ42 simply has not been worked on, and it was deceptive to give release dates with zero progress.

Hasn't it though? Do you have a source for this "shocking information"?

You already know the answer, but I'll make it clear for those who don't:
Squadron 42, the single player campaign for upcoming space MMO Star Citizen, has been delayed indefinitely.

Chris Roberts and Cloud Imperium Games made the delay announcement during a livestream, stating that while a lot of the basics were complete, a great deal more had to be done. This includes in-progress development on things like pathfinding logic, enhanced flight AI, and the mission integration system.

The campaign's 28 chapters (each comprised of multiple missions) are simply not done yet, according to Roberts, with some still at the grey-box level. The developer has been notoriously quiet about a release date---up until now, while very little from the campaign had been shown, CIG had still not pushed back the 2016 release window.

You give me a blog from Forbes.com. That says nothing about it "not being worked on" like you state. Okay bud. :) For some reason or another you don't like this project, that's cool. Your disdain for it is obviously clouding your judgment of what your reading.

Oh sorry. I tried to look for a more credible source, but I had to settle for Forbes.

Well, it's true they did work extremely hard on the Gary Oldman cut-scene, and the still photos of Gollum posing with facial mapping technology.
This organization is masterful when it comes to advertising and promotions!

They did a great deal of work on furnishing the offices in the UK Studio, i.e. chairs that cost £1100 apiece.

Switched from Crytek to Lumberyard....(Yes Crytek made Lumberyard for Amazon)Wonder how much time and money was spent on that decision. But it performs exactly the same, same lack of any GFX options so yeah just a name switch as far as I'm concerned I get the same 48fps in the hangar I was getting before 2.6...Oh well keep rolling CIG maybe you'll get there...

Every single time anyone critical of this development mentioned the choice of game engine, the White Knights would immediately go on the defensive.
A course correction should have been made 3 years ago when it became apparent the CryEngine was not as hoped for.

The new Industrial Hangar gave me a drop in frames from the 58-60 I was experiencing previously.

Odd I have never seen higher than 48 at 1440 and I think that was just on High(Didn't know there was a Very High)I have my monitor forced to 144hz unless told otherwise. Will have to poke around and see what I'm missing here(not like there are many options...)
Edit: Well I tried Very High, same 48 in the hanger and 30s in Area 18. The hangar thing almost seems like it's FPS locked as it never goes over 48 no matter where I look or move. Odd, but hey "Alpha Reasons". Hell if I am gonna try to fly a ship with that kinda performance that is for sure....

SQ42 simply has not been worked on, and it was deceptive to give release dates with zero progress.

I can understand your feelings there to an extent but it does seem you hold a special level of hate for SC, CIG and CR. You've made that clear over months of posting anti-SC, CIG and CR here on TPU. Some of your complaints I agree with, some I don't. You seem intent on spreading your bad word of SC, SQ42, CIG, and CR...and almost seems at any cost, and sure it seems you've gained a follower or two out of it, but is it really worth it hyper-focusing on the negativity of this project? I sure hope you're able to dedicate that same energy and focus to some positive outlets in life as well, because you are very dedicated and I will give you props for that.

That said, let me ask you a couple of questions on deception though...

Is it any less deceptive to cherry pick forum posts, articles and complaints to emphasize your negative perspective of said entities?

Especially without painting the entire true and honest picture of the SC project? Sure there's good and bad...why not acknowledge both?

How about treating assumption as fact, as was found in the OP with stating SQ42 had been cancelled? Sure seems deceptive... doesn't help the OP doesn't seem to be posting in the thread they created anymore, nor responding to inquiries of their statements...

Is it not deceptive to only show only one side of the story, in your case, the negativity of SC, CIG and CR as if they're not capable of doing any good?

As if their products are a total failure?

As if every little move they make are the worst possible moves and not appropriate for what is deemed by armchair game designers as development?

The way I see it, complaining and focusing so much negativity in content about a company being deceptive and using deceptive tactics to gain supporters for your cause is no better than those you seem to hate on so much. And maybe you don't mean it to come across that way...but with how it is presented and what you bring to the table, I have to question your intentions as these threads you're involved in keep on the same path as every one before it.

Sure development is slower than we'd hoped for, but it's moving forward...sure SQ42 isn't out yet, might not even have had any major changes this year...as I said before I believe that is heavily based on SC's current level of development and testing...let's get the technology stable and correct, and then apply it to the other game...to me that makes sense and probably saves costs on development to focus on it with SC modules and then apply what was decided and learned to SQ42...this is me speculating but I expect we'll see more when SC has reached 3.0. Will it be in 2017? I think so and hope so, but if not well it'll be what it is at that point...I, like many others knew the risk of backing a title on Kickstarter and into post KS funding. It should have been common sense from the start. Those getting miffed about it shouldn't be backing such projects, period.

I can't be mad for something I was warned about not happening does fail, I knew the risks just as you did. Maybe I'm more willing to accept responsibility for my decisions or maybe you just haven't quite gotten your perspective through to me yet on a level where I feel you're right and everyone else is wrong. I do commend your efforts though, when I agree with them, when I disagree with them, even when they are annoying...you don't quit with beating your dead horse, bones to powder and all...that's some serious dedication dude. I do question the value of that dedication into so much negativity though.

Really I invested in a product I hope to see a return on in the form of 2 games, but there's a chance it might not pan out. So far I see no reason present that proves development is going to halt and keep SC or SQ42 from ever being released, nothing you've shared, recycled or stated has changed or swayed me of that. I'm ready for the polished product be it years away or not. Thankfully we're still in alpha stages so performance issues should be expected, especially with engine changes even if it's mostly the same. They picked a good time to get this done rather than waiting any longer that's for sure.

Office chairs of that cost and quality are common place in professional office environments even in my neck of the woods...so not sure why you keep focusing on that. There's good reasoning behind why someone would want a high quality chair when they're working at a desk all day and beyond standard full-time hours as I'm sure many of the CIG folks do from time-to-time. I hope what I donated keeps their ass comfy so they can instead focus on doing good work for their prospective task rather than get distracted with back and comfort issues. It's having the right tool for the job, as was said at the dealership I was a mechanic at for a decade and that statement couldn't ring any more true IMHO. Maybe your perspective is different or maybe you're not willing to see beyond your perspective.

If you only want to see the bad in something why not walk away from it, get it out of your life? Clearly it's toxic enough to cause you months of grief and disappointment, if not years. Why torture yourself anymore than you need to? It's not worth it! I'd much rather see you invest energy into something positive and helpful here on TPU...but this...this isn't it IMHO.

They did a great deal of work on furnishing the offices in the UK Studio, i.e. chairs that cost £1100 apiece.

You should perhaps give Mr. Trump a call, you have the same style of discussing things and presenting arguments to help your case. I'm not even joking, the similarities are striking.

Same level of blindness and intelligence, as well.

We are seeing here what we saw happen in a previous topic critical of Star Citizen that was locked because the focus of the replies became increasingly about me, and not about the game developer.
When unable to sucessfully defend CIG/RSI, the Stockholm Syndrome victims attempt to change the subject to what my motivations are, and then to trivialize the very the topic by saying that I am too focused on it.
This topic is a very important discussion as it transcends gaming and game development because of it's nature. It's not just about video games. Crowd funding has become a business model. A business model that can and could be a criminal enterprise, a scam on the level of Bernard Madoff, and Albert Ponzi. This topic is also about mob psychology, and the methods of the Star Citizen project are being carefully studied by many who have no interest in PC games.
As men of the world, we should be engaged in the issues of the day, and the Star Citizen project qualifies as one of the most fascinating of current events.
