Just started overclocking again just for fun.

Wanna know what part of your system you overclock?

CPU and GPU. In most cases, overclocking ram is waste of time as, in most cases, there are little to no improvements. Only in benchmarking in most cases does it help.. same with cache on the CPUs.

overlclocked my phone and tablet, dont quite get hot enough to make toast.

edit: oh and my router has a 400Mhz OC just because, a gigabit/AC3200 router clearly doesnt have the balls for 9Mb DSL.

if your PC's power consumption affects your bill that much, you're either very poor, or being ripped off. I've got stupidly expensive electricity rates here, and my PC doesnt even break 400W in synthetic stress tests

Stock 2.9 ghz.....o/c to 4.5ghz, i know its only marginally over a 50% overclock but i am happy with that...........

my 290 was the same, good cards (if power hungry and hot), but they were already pushed to their limits by AMD.

No OC'ing really, besides the factory OC'd graphic card (sometimes manually clocked higher for benchmarking only).
CPU a 2% OC because of my memory XMP profile to run the ram at 3000MHz.

usually CPU and GPU but most of the time only CPU (as for now factory OC aka "slightly enhanced stock clock" is enough for my current GPU ) on older cards ... yep a little OC is healthy

RAM ... well back in the day with some Athlon XP rigs ... i ran most of my DDR 266 to 333 ... nowadays ... not much useful (not that it was useful before either )

eh? ... my 290 could take 1100 core and 1500 ram without any issues ... (well kinda a 290X level for 150$ ... i could do worse )
not that 945/1250 was "pushed to the limit" either on AIR (reference cooler perma 65% fan ) or water (a little more silent obviously )

You can joke about overclocking a monitor, but I did run a CRT beyond its maximum resolution using Nvidia custom resolution feature and worked fine

Agreed there was less headroom possibly with 290's but maybe I got lucky with mine as she will game/bench at 1150mhz but that needs a voltage hike but the cooling is so good it copes really well.

I also have to OC the CPU, I just like the feeling of getting some extra performance for nothing..... well for little cost (better cooling aside).

That's not really an overclock as you still have the same amount of pixels your just pushing a higher resolution through, you can however overclock the refresh rate my current monitor is only good for 75hz (60hz is its rated max) but some of the Korean 1440p panels are good for 90-100+

Yes, you overclock the horizontal scan clock because there are more scanlines for the same vertical frequency

That's why at higher resolution, lower maximum refresh rate

CRT at 800x600 @ 60 Hz,
CRT at 1024x768 @ 60Hz

The latter will run at higher horizontal frequency!

On top of the cpu/gpu/ram, i also ticked other for a little gekko compac USB bitcoin miner Haven't messed around with it for a while but had it running at 375mhz (150mhz was default lol, 150% OC!)

I haven't tried overclocking my phone, it would be useful for crunching, but it already draws more power than the 1.5A usb charger can feed it, so crunching with it is pointless!

Technically, I underclocked my RAM even though I checked that box. They are 3000mhz sticks that I run on 2133mhz with very low timings. I have an unproven "gut" theory that applications prefer better latency over faster cycles.
