1 day left to lock in this SWEET deal! I have loved mine!
So much so, I'm ordering a spare pair! These normally go for $200 on Amazon and other e-tailers and AKG's MSRP.
These work well with portable devices and really open up with an amp and are also nicely reactive to EQ-ing if you desire more or less bass. Nice clear mids and hi's. excellent passive isolation, damn good comfort, I can't praise these enough for closed cans. They aren't the bassiest cans ever, but with EQ-ing you can achieve great bass without killing clarity...and they'll have no qualms about reaching down low.
They also make no apologies for shitty recordings, but at the same time, my MP3 collection is perfectly enjoyable as most are 320K or higher pass VBR. I have very few FLACs.
Also work out great for gaming! For a closed can they have a pretty damn vast soundstage. Bigger than any other closed headphone I've used/owned in the last 10 years. If you want a nice closed can that is pretty good at anything and can be usable from almost any source (especially with EQ), these are it IMHO.
Anyways, worth the investment imho. If you want to upgrade from some gaming headsets, this is a very good choice. If you want something that won't break the bank but can perform admirably and be comfortable doing it, these work very well!
