well if the 7700K was an interesting option we would be talking about what you thought we talked ... but nope..

just in case i mentioned the 6700K was 440$ at start and around 380$ as of today ... well yes the 7700K is cheaper than the 6700K at launch and literally on par with the 6700K soooo it's not a price issue but rather a question of improvement... a sector where the 7700K lack in many aspect except raw clocking capability ... which is not bad in itself, but not really a warrant of anything.

imho the 7XXX line should have been the 6X90K line ... just like Haswell Devils-Canyon to Haswell, well DC did get a new backward compatible chipset ... who brought no major improvement over the precedent, the Z87 to Z97 is the exact same scenario as the Z170 to Z270 (well ... the 7700K did bring some more improvement aside higher clocking capability ... higher temps capability )

6.5G is really not much. The current top scores for Cinebench R11.5 and R15 on the 7700K are all done in the 6.7 to 6.8Ghz range.

"booohhh hisssss go hide yourself you're shameful" ) indeed 7700K=6790K and it's SkabyLake (well at last the 4690K had a better TIM compared to the 4670K )

(custom loop ... we already have one input and chiller too, we are covered on that side )

Do you know how Cinebench works? You literally can't get a top score in it without all cores and HT enabled. If you wanted to beat a 6GHz fully enable 7700K in Cinebench with just one core and no HT on a different 7700K you would need to run close to 30Ghz.

This is why we have so many different benchamrks at HWbot. The basic one is raw core clock where literally nothing but the number in CPU-z matters. There you can run 1 core. There is stuff like superPi which you need at least 1 core to run but ideal want 2 since it's a tad faster if you unload all the background tasks onto an extra core and give one core to superPi. Hyper threading actively lowers scores in SuperPi so you don't turn that on. Then there are the multi threaded benchmarks like XTU(based on Prime95), Cinebench, Geek Bench, GPUPI, HWbot Prime.... Those also run at different clocks with XTU being the lowest clocked due to running the hottest and GPUPI and Hwbot Prime are generally the lightest and run the highest clocks.

gmblll... nope ... not needed, but i could help you i am and i will always be a all sider, rather than a one camp fanatic

and do not worry i've taken my medication, you know the green-blue pill ... otherwise i would rock happily a Radeon Pro Duo or a RX480 since i am not fan of dual GPU (well on a single board it's always better than dual card) and a FX 9590 on the beffier FX990 mobo with a custom loop and a chiller and a base 5ghz turbo. (rah i was being over-optimistic with the monster tower ... mmhhh well the R1 ultimate in tri fan configuration might have been enough nonetheless )

oh well maybe i will take the red pill once Ryzen and Vega are out in the wild and tested, if they offer a better performance/price ratio like they always did but with a decent leap in performances i might get swayed, or i will stay with my 6600K and GTX 1070 for another round and wait the next next gen ... who knows, after all Intel didn't show anything of interest for their next gen and the 1070 is still plenty for my needs ... Navi? yay over-speculation is the best ... wait ... no forget that

The only thing above LN2 in terms of cooling capability is LHe. However LHe is so expensive and so painful to work with that so far only ASUS has used it to do the 7.3Ghz single core validation. All the cinebench scores are LN2.

Got it from Microcenter for $329.99. Purchased it as a combo with the motherboard and they knocked off $30 as combo discount. And Bench performs slight better then my old 5930K.

Seems like I have duplicate of your Chip. This voltage was auto set by BIOS and is pretty high. I am sure I can tweak those down with Adaptive/offset in BIOS.

thought you didn't understand my question i was not asking what was above LN2, but i was interested to know if it was something less boring, like a actual Cinebench result at 6.5ghz+ that didn't not be achieved on a temporary overkill cooling.
Temporary cooling and result are not "max capacity" for now the max of the 7700K is 5.0-5.2 with water custom loop and chiller

to be more precise, i am not against sub-zero cooling... just not LN2, bring in a 24/7 sub zero like the good old Vapochill or the actual LittleDevil LD PC-V2
