There will be no respite from the rising prices of DRAM chips over 2017, according to a report by Taiwan-based industry observer DigiTimes. Prices of DRAM chips directly affect DDR4 memory modules. Pei-Ing Lee, president of Nanya Technology, a DRAM maker, said that DRAM prices will continue to rally (rise) over the second quarter of 2017, but could stabilize (not necessarily fall) over the second half of the year.

The stability of DRAM prices could still depend on the capex plans of major DRAM manufacturers. The rise in DRAM prices is being attributed to tight supply. Nanya is upgrading its production lines to the new 20 nm node, with early production by the end of Q1-2017. Prices of consumer DDR4 memory modules have nearly doubled over the past six months. A typical 32 GB dual-channel DDR4 memory kit, which could be had for a little over USD $90 in Summer 2016, is now priced around $170.

Prices have doubled up (precise +100%)... picked up 2x (two sticks) 16gb ddr4's 3 month ago for total of 105 Euro... now 1x (one stick) 16GB costs 100Euro or 200 euro for 32GB total... when tech sites start to gave warnings about prices up... then 32GB set like mine was 130 euro and I tought "too late, it cant go higher that that" :D

Good thing I've already bought 2TB SSD and 32GB RAM. I'll be good for the next decade...
you are damn right - it is all of RAM you will ever need - tech development have been slowed down to unseen levels - a Sandybridge CPU un 8GB of RAM (ddr3 1333) from year 2011 are still not bottlenecked nor by cpu nor RAM.

+ that

I'm running a 2600k @ 4.5Ghz with 32Gb for 3 Years now and the only thing I upgraded was the memory from 16 to 32 and a new gfx card. The 2600K is handling my 980Ti @ 1506 pretty fine. 2626 Heaven score

Think i'm at about 5-6 years for my 2600k with 16GB ram now. Still havent met the task which would make me consider an upgrade on those components.

It doesnt matter if this is due to "tight supply", falling demand, or some industry wide push for higher prices like during the HDD shortage, if those chinese foundries ever come online, expect RAM and NAND prices to drop very quickly.

It's not illuminatis... George Bush burned fabric of memory modules.
First he hit people with truck in Berlin, camera record him but they delete traces...
Hillary navigate him from Pentagon.

But their end is close, Donkey Trumpov and KGB officer want to back happiness in America as thanks because USA helped Soviet empire and now they need to repay to old friends.
1. That hurt my brain trying to read.

I havent seen DRAM prices rise in India, due to falling demand for PCs prices have either been stable have been reduced compared to US prices.

I cant say the same about where I live... roughly 15-30% up on average comparing a year ago and now.

Welp now I feel really good. Already stuffed my X99 to the max of 128GB when the price were at all time low.

Prices have doubled here too, at least compared to when I got my RAM a few months ago and what it costs today. Admittedly I bought it at rock bottom, but even so...
I do remember paying $100 for 4MB of EDO RAM back in the days though and that was 2nd hand...

It would've helped if certain manufacturers weren't making mass market phones without strapping even remotely-reliable batteries on them only to end up recalling every made piece of the damned things and wasting valuable resources in the process.

how is your currency vs usd? that or your prices used to be inflated... or are you really saying the actual price in usd is lower than us stores?

what do sales have to do with the true cost? http://pcpartpicker.com/trends/price/memory/ it is a fact (edit: pcpp also includes sales)

are you looking at the exact model ram with a set of timings & you're sure every sale & every non sale price isnt actually going up?

I never look at retail prices (total waste of time) and sale prices haven't fluctuated on ram much. Equivalent sticks seem to be slightly higher than last summer (20 ish).
SSDs are in the toilet. 500GB for 110 (850 evo), 240/250GB for less than 50, etc. I even got 250s for 20 bucks LOL.

I don't even look at ddr3. That's going to increase no matter what. Production must be tanking.

Here is the exchange rate of US$ to INR for last 12 months:
http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=INR&view=1Y#

Ddr4 prices were seriously inflated in India when X99 was released since the prices have come down. But for last year or so prices been stable for Rams and ssds in India. In some cases you can find them cheaper now than they were a year back.

did you not look at the pcpartpicker link? both ddr3 AND ddr4 had the lowest prices, including sales, in late spring early summer 2016, & have risen since then

now if there are some quality kits that started out fairly expensive, then sure it's understandable to see them dropping over time even if many of the lower end sticks are rising
